20200263472 · 2020-08-20 ·

The present invention pertains to the technological sector of household items and refers, more specifically, to a passive safety device applied to doors in order to prevent them, when closing unexpectedly, from causing accidents to body parts of humans or animals. Since the safety devices applied for this purpose present the obstacle of being removed or disarmed when the user wishes to close the door (7), the present invention presents a passive combination (1) endowed with rod (2) and fastening element (4) that should be attached to the handle (5) present on the door (7) in such a way as to move together with it (5). This causes the rod (2) endowed or not with a stop (3) to stand between the door (7) and the frame (6) passively in order to prevent the unexpected closing of the door and preserve the security space (8) preventing body parts of people or animals from being crushed.

APPARATUS TO MINIMISE INJURY CAUSED BY AN EXTREMITY TRAPPED BY A CLOSING HINGED DOOR
20200115944 · 2020-04-16 ·

An apparatus is provided having a foam cushion (9) attached to an elongate elastic member (8). Adhesive pads (10) are attached one to each end of the elastic member (8). A U shaped resiliently deformable handle is attached to the uppermost and lowest cushion (9) and adapted to project through the hinge gap formed between the hinge stile (6) and the door jamb (7) when the door is swung open. The apparatus can be secured to the hinge stile (6) of a hinge mounted door leaf (3) by means of the adhesive pads (10) and with the elastic member (8) under sufficient tension to keep the cushions resting against the hinge stile and the handle projecting through the hinge gap. If an attempt is made to close the door without displacing the cushions 9 from the hinge gap the cushions prevent full closure. To fully close the door the handle is pulled from the hinge side of the door, until the cushions (9) are displaced through the hinge gap and the door can then be closed. The cushions are too wide to pass through the reduced hinge gap when the door is closed. When the door is opened the spring force of the elastic member causes the cushions (9) to pull back through the widening hinge gap.

A hinge (FIG. 1) with an adjustable built-in door stop mechanism. The hinge contains two leaves and a hinge pin. The first leaf with three knuckles has various receptacles (4) on both the upper and lower knuckles (3) to ensure the door stop works with both right and left-handed doors. The hinge also contains a standard hinge pin (5) that includes a flag (6) immediately at the base of the pin head. The hinge is designed to stop when the pin flag (6) is inserted into one of the pin flag receptacles (4) limiting the swing range of motion of the hinge. The second leaf (2) will rotate until making contact with the pin flag (6) and the top knuckle (3), stopping the hinge from rotating any further. The appropriate pin flag receptacle (4) selected is based on the required swing of the hinge.

A device for protecting the fingers of a person from getting impinged in between the door and the doorframe during closing of the door by an operator is provided. The device includes a gripping body configured to wrap around the shank of the doorknob, a bumper body attached to the gripping body configured to prevent the closing of the door, a hollow unit positioned between the bumper body and the gripping body, and one or more connecting body to pass through the hollow unit to connect the gripping body with the shank of the doorknob. When the door is opened, the bumper body is positioned between the door and the door frame. A mechanism or apparatus enables stowing a hinged surface chock at a stowage position near a deployment position. Said stowage and deployment positions separated by a gap between a first hinged surface and a second hinged surface, where said hinged surfaces are attached by at least one hinge. The apparatus enables the transition of said chock through said gap when one of said hinged surfaces is sufficiently open. Said apparatus will enable stowing said chock by holding said chock at the side of the gap where said chock does not obstruct the closing path of either hinged surface and said apparatus will enable deploying said chock by holding said chock where, at least partially, said chock obstructs the closing path of at least one of said hinged surfaces. Said apparatus may further enable arranging said chock at a wider angle at the deployed position.
