SURGICAL SUCTION DEVICE THAT USES POSITIVE PRESSURE GAS
Described herein are devices, systems, and methods for generating a variable liquid vacuum with an accompanying stable gas flow rate. In particular, when a suction device suctions a liquid and gas mixture it is advantageous to provide a variable vacuum or vacuum to apply to the liquid component while the flow rate of the gas stays constant or essentially constant.
Collection and filtration via suction of biological material during surgical procedure
A method for collecting and filtering biological material from blood and other fluids during a surgical procedure includes: attaching a first cover including a suction port and an intake port to a collection trap; attaching a suction source to the suction port; attaching an instrument to the intake port, through which blood and tissue are suctioned and received into the collection trap; filing the collection trap with blood and tissue; removing the collection trap from the first cover; attaching a second cover to the collection trap in place of the first cover, the second cover including a suction port and a plunger, the plunger including a press head having a screen portion permitting blood and other fluids to pass; attaching a suction source to the suction port of the second cover; separating the blood from the tissue by deploying the plunger; and drawing off the blood through the suction port.
BIOPSY DEVICE
A biopsy device is disclosed. The biopsy device includes a chamber having a body having a distal end and a proximal end, wherein the proximal end includes an inlet. The biopsy device further includes a vacuum generator for generating negative and positive pressure and at least one first recessed area and at least one second recessed area. The first recessed area extends along an inner wall of the body, proximate the proximal end of the body of the chamber. The first recessed area is configured to release pressure within the chamber. The second recessed area extends along the inner wall of the body, proximate the distal end of the body of the chamber. The second recessed area is configured to release pressure within the chamber.
DEVICE FOR AN ASPIRATOR, ASPIRATOR AND METHOD
A device for an aspirator, the device comprising a suction inlet for suctioned air, liquid and particles; an exhaust outlet for air; a reservoir for collecting liquid and particles separated from the air; and a clearing arrangement fluidly between the suction inlet and the exhaust outlet, the clearing arrangement being configured to provide a path of air, substantially cleared from liquid sucked through the suction inlet, to the exhaust outlet, in any orientation of the device in space. An aspirator comprising a device, and a method of modifying a device for an aspirator, are also provided.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TISSUE SPECIMEN COLLECTION
A system and method for retaining a tissue specimen obtained via a collection tube is provided. Embodiments provide a system including a collection device removably and serially disposed between a collection tube and a suction tube so as to allow fluid communication therebetween via the collection device. The collection device includes a screen for retaining a tissue specimen drawn into the collection device by and towards the suction tube while allowing any fluid accompanying the tissue to be drawn through the collection device and into the suction tube. The system also includes one or more end caps for sealing the collection device such that the collection device may store and/or transport the retained tissue specimen in a preservation fluid. A system for identifying and organizing collection devices retaining tissue specimens from various anatomical regions is also provided.
SUCTION TOOL
A suction tool for connection to a dental suction system can include an elongate body, a tip portion, and a screen mechanism positioned within the elongate body. The tip portion can extend over at least a portion of the elongate body. The tip portion can include an upper portion and a lower portion integrally formed with the upper portion and at least partially spaced apart from the upper portion by a recessed portion.
Bone Material Harvesting Device
A bone harvesting device includes a main body having an internal cavity and a suction port adapted to be coupled to a suction source. The device further includes an outer tube (200) having an interior surface, an exterior surface, a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the outer tube being coupleable to the main body, an inner tube having an interior surface, an exterior surface, a proximal end and a distal end, the inner tube being in fluid communication with the internal cavity and at least partially disposed within the outer tube such that a venting channel is defined between at least a portion of the inner tube and at least a portion of the outer tube.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO REMOVE BLOOD CLOTS
Systems, devices and methods for removing a blood clot (10) from a blood vessel (12). Various uses of suction pressure and positive pressure, proximal and/or distal to the blood clot (10) assist with clot dislodgement and removal. The pressure(s) may be constant and/or cycled/pulsed to assist with clot dislodgement and/or removal. Various further devices assist with separating the clot (10) from the vessel (12).
METHODS, APPARATUSES, AND SYSTEMS FOR ASPIRATING AIRWAYS
The present disclosure includes methods, apparatuses, and systems for aspirating the airway of a patient. The apparatus includes a main body having a pump and a storage canister housing coupled to the main body and containing a storage container that is at least partially collapsible. In some configurations, the main body can include a pressure sensor, a controller in communication with the pressure sensor, and having a processor, a memory, and a power source in communication with the controller. The storage canister housing can include a first end coupled to the main body, and a second end having a weighted portion and configured to be coupled to the first end to permit free rotation, such that the second end gravitationally rotates.
Waste Collection Unit Including A Reservoir Supported On A Portable Cart For Storing Liquid When Positioned Away From A Docking Station
A waste collection unit for collecting waste material. A reservoir is supported on a portable cart for storing a liquid on the portable cart when positioned away from a docking station. A sprinkler may be coupled to the waste container and in fluid communication with the reservoir. The sprinkler is configured to direct the liquid from the reservoir towards the waste container. The reservoir is configured to receive additional liquid from the docking station to urge the liquid from the reservoir towards the sprinkler. A prefill pump may be supported on the portable cart and in fluid communication with the waste container and operable to convey the liquid from the reservoir to the waste container. A controller may be in electronic communication with a valve assembly to control flow of the liquid from the docking station into at least one of the reservoir and a second waste container.
