MAGNETIC LOCKSET
20240060330 · 2024-02-22 ·

An exemplary lockset includes a mortise case, a magnet assembly mounted in the mortise case, and a manual actuator operable to move the magnet assembly between a coupling position in which a first magnet of the magnet assembly is aligned with a reference point and a decoupling position in which the first magnet is misaligned with the reference point. In certain embodiments, the magnet assembly further includes a second magnet having an opposite polarity as the first magnet, and the second magnet is misaligned with the reference point when the magnet assembly is in the coupling position and is aligned with the reference point when the magnet assembly is in the decoupling position.

Magnetic positioning hinge for horizontal door assembly

An integrated magnetic catch used to hold a horizontal hinged oven door open at a selected set partially open position. A pin is used to hold the two plates together and acts as a pivot point. Attached to a stationary plate is a bracket that houses a magnet. This bracket is formed having a preset angle that correlates with the degree that the door is to be opened. When the rotating hinge makes contact with the bracket, the magnetic force holds the door open at a selected angle.

Drive unit for a sliding closure
11970898 · 2024-04-30 · ·

A drive unit for driving an open-and-close body and a method for attaching the drive unit to the open-and-close body. The drive unit includes a cable, a drum, a pulley, a fix member, an elastic member, and a limiting member. The cable has a portion connected to the open-and-close body and another portion wound on the drum. The pulley is movable between a first position, where the pulley does not tension the cable, and a second position, where the pulley engages the cable and applies tension to the cable. The fix member is capable of fixing the pulley in the first position. The elastic member urges the pulley towards the second position. The limiting member is provided between the drum and the fix member, and the limiting member allows or limits rotation of the drum in accordance with the position of the pulley.

Door closer

A door closer pivoted on a door at least includes a case and a piston. When the door is open, the door closer blocks a communicating hole of the case by an oil sealing ring of the piston to allow an oil filled in the door closer cannot flow through the communicating hole. As a result, the open door can be held in a predetermined position.

Magnetic door stop and door holder
11988027 · 2024-05-21 · ·

A magnetic doorstop and door holder provides an aesthetically pleasing, functionally simple, and effective solution to allow homeowners to closely control an amount of force needed to maintain a door in an open position. The system is designed to work with most doors, including traditional solid doors and hollow core doors. The system involves magnetic and/or ferromagnetic materials affixed to or embedded within various entryway components, including doors, door jambs, door frames, and door hinges, and within walls and/or flooring adjacent to the entryway. The system is designed to be highly customizable to fit each homeowner's particular needs and circumstances, and adjustable based on the type of door or entryway layout and based on the homeowner's desired strength of holding and precise positioning.

Magnetic door closure
11982113 · 2024-05-14 · ·

A magnetic door closure apparatus includes a first magnet in a door frame and second and third magnets in a door. The second and third magnets align with the first magnet when the door is closed. The second magnet's polarity is the same as the first magnet, and the third magnet's polarity is opposite that of the first magnet. When the door is nearly closed, the distance between the first and second magnets is less than the distance between the first and third magnets. The magnetic attraction between the first and third magnets is large enough to overcome the magnetic repulsion between the first and second magnets so that the door can be closed and is large enough to hold the door closed, whereas the magnetic repulsion is large enough to prevent the door from slamming against the door frame as the door is closed.

Retaining Device

PROBLEM: To provide a retaining device for which the magnitude of resistance when an engaging protrusion moves between elastic pieces can be adjusted.

SOLUTION: The retaining device 4 is provided with: a receiving member 5 that is attached to a main body 1, and an engagement member 6 that is attached to a movable body 2. The receiving member 5 has: a base part 10 attached to the main body 1, a first elastic piece 11 supported by the base part 10, and a second elastic piece 12 supported by the base part 10. The engagement member 6 has an engaging protrusion 8 that passes between the first elastic piece 11 and the second elastic piece 12 and is retained at a retaining position P. An interval between the first elastic piece 11 and the second elastic piece 12 becomes narrower than the engaging protrusion 8 at a more forward side than the retaining position P. The first elastic piece 11 bends more easily than the second elastic piece 12 at a more forward side than the retaining position P.

Soft-stop device and system

A damping system comprises a door panel operably connected to a rail for movement along the rail. An apparatus is mounted to the rail for damping movement of the door along the rail at an end position. The damping apparatus comprises a base defining a chamber having a closed end and an open end, the base configured for securing the damping apparatus to the rail. A piston is slidably mounted in the chamber and extends from the open end of the base in a first position. The piston includes a cylinder, a piston head moveable within said cylinder, a piston rod connected to the piston head, and a compression spring disposed on the piston rod between the cylinder and closed end of the chamber. The damping apparatus is secured to the rail for engaging and slowing movement of the door panel in a direction along the rail at the position as the piston is moved in the direction from the first position to a second position.

SELF-CLOSING HINGE
20190211599 · 2019-07-11 ·

A self-closing hinge has a housing shaft section with a bore extending therethrough in a direction substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis is attachable to a first rotatable member. A bore extends through the housing shaft section. The cross-sectional profile of the bore in a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal axis has at least one arcuate portion and at least one non-arcuate portion. A roll pin rotatably disposed in the bore has substantially the same cross-sectional profile as the bore. A pair of shaft members, each having a shaft-member body attachable to a second rotatable member, has a pin inserted in an interference fit in the opposed ends of the roll-pin bore. The pins have a cross-sectional profile corresponding to the roll-pin cross-sectional profile.
