Specifying unavailable locations for autonomous vehicles

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a vehicle for maneuvering a passenger to a destination autonomously. The vehicle includes one or more computing devices that receive a request for a vehicle from a client computing device. The request identifies a first location. The one or more computing devices also determine whether the first location is within a threshold outside of a service area of the vehicle. When the location is within the threshold distance outside of the service area of the vehicle, the one or more computing devices identify a second location within the service area of the vehicle where the vehicle is able to stop for a passenger and based on the first location. The one or more computing devices then provide a map and a marker identifying the position of the second location on the map for display on the client computing device.

System for automatically closing a trunk lid of a vehicle

A system for automatically closing a trunk lid of a vehicle. The system comprises a trunk sensor system configured for detecting items in a luggage trunk, a trunk lid actuator for automatic closing of the trunk lid, and a control unit connected to the trunk sensor system and to the trunk lid actuator. The control unit is arranged for statistically determining, based on a set of observations of a trunk interior space by means of the trunk sensor system in connection with termination of a set of vehicle travels, one or more items or combination of items that are frequently remaining in the luggage trunk after completed travel, while preferably taking into account the one or more items stored in the luggage trunk during the travel, detecting opening of the trunk lid, detecting current items in the luggage trunk by means of the trunk sensor system, and controlling the trunk lid actuator for automatic closing of the trunk lid when the current items correspond to said one or more items or combination of items that are frequently remaining in the luggage trunk after a journey. The disclosure also relates to a corresponding computer-implemented method for automatically closing a trunk lid of a vehicle luggage trunk.

Building wall module with automatic doors for users and postal delivery

A building wall module for partitioning a first region from a second region has a frame structure with inner and outer wall panels and lateral fastening devices for connecting the building wall module to a building. In addition, a sliding door system and a secondary door system are integrated in the frame structure, wherein the secondary door system is arranged separated from the sliding door system and can be controlled separately from the control device of the sliding door system. An electrical interface device connects the building wall module to a building system of a building.

Door operator system with adaptor and back plate

Door operator systems are described herein that include the use of an adaptor. It should be understood that the adaptor may be utilized in order to operatively couple separate door operator assemblies together in a double door operator system. The adaptor may include control components (e.g., switches, buttons, toggles, levers, or the like) that are used to turn the door operator system on and off. While the adaptor may be used to operatively couple two separate door operator assemblies together to form a double door operator system, the adaptor may also be used within a single door operator system. Furthermore, with respect to double door operator systems, the system may also utilize a back plate assembly comprising two or more separate back plates (e.g., two or more back plate portions).

DOOR CLOSURE AND LATCHING CONFIRMATION SYSTEM

A vehicle latch confirmation system includes a door that is rotatably coupled to a vehicle body and a power assist device that is coupled between the door and the vehicle body for moving the door between open and closed positions at a hinge axis of the door. A latch mechanism includes a rotating catch configured to latch to a latch striker. A controller is coupled to the latch mechanism and is configured to receive a latch signal from the latch mechanism when the latch striker is latched in the catch. A sound source is operably coupled to the controller and configured to sound an acoustic signal in response to the latch signal being received by the controller.

POWER ASSIST DEVICE FOR A VEHICLE DOOR

A power assist device for a vehicle includes a door is pivotally coupled to a vehicle body. A hinge assembly is coupled between the vehicle body and the door to define a hinge axis for the door. A motor is coupled to the door and includes a drive shaft extending outwardly from the motor. A first spool is disposed on the drive shaft for rotation therewith. A second spool is mounted on the hinge assembly at a spool axle. A cable is operably couples the first spool to the second spool and the motor is configured to drive the first spool in a rotational movement, and the cable is configured to translate the rotational movement of the first spool to the second spool. The movement of the second spool drives an opening and closing movement of the door at the hinge axis of the hinge assembly.

Attempting to pull over for autonomous vehicles

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a vehicle having one or more computing devices that may receive instructions to pick up a passenger at a pickup location and determine when the vehicle is within a first distance of the pickup location. When the vehicle is within the first distance, the computing devices may make a first attempt to find a spot to park the vehicle and wait for the passenger. When the vehicle is unable to find a spot to park the vehicle on the first attempt, the computing devices may maneuvering the vehicle in order to make a second attempt to find a spot to park the vehicle and wait for the passenger. When the vehicle is unable to find a spot to park the vehicle on the second attempt, the computing devices may stop the vehicle in a current lane to wait for the passenger.
