Dampening translator for sliding building closure

A dampening translator for a sliding building closure comprising a housing having a longitudinal axis and a traveler track with a longitudinally extending portion having a first end. A traveler is carried by the housing and includes a body carrying track followers carried in the traveler track of the housing, and carrying longitudinally spaced walls extending away from the body and establishing a catch space therebetween. A retractor is carried by the housing and has a housing portion coupled to the housing and a traveler portion coupled to the traveler to bias the traveler in a direction toward the first end of the traveler track. A dampener is carried by the housing to decelerate the traveler.

A damping device (15) is arranged between the housing and the push rod to provide a damped resistive force in a direction opposite to said first direction. An indexing mechanism (18) controls movement of the push rod relative to the housing. The damping device is arranged to act along an axis (y) that is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the push rod and spaced apart from it.

A damped closure mechanism is provided for controlling movement of a first member relative to a second member, for example the door (12) of an oven (11). The mechanism comprises a housing (14) having a main spring which is engagable with the oven door (12) for urging it towards its closed position and a damper (25) for providing damped resistance to this closing movement. The mechanism further comprises a second spring (29) which is also engagable with the oven door (12) for urging it towards its closed position. The second spring (29) is arranged to act in parallel with the main spring (24), and serves to hold the door (12) shut with spring force.

The two damper stops (24) are opposite and fixed along the base (22) of the profile (12) misaligned with each other; the pivoting slider (38) which such stops are fitted with, are provided with and abutted by an appendage (56) and (58) projecting from the support (40) and defining an actuator.

A holding device is arranged between the ram and the entrainment member, and the holding device holds the ram relative to the entrainment member. The ram is movable through an opening of the holding device when a force acting upon the entrainment member in the retraction direction is exceeded, whereby the entrainment member can be decoupled from the ram.
