A method of pivoting an aircraft storage bin that includes a bucket that pivots with respect to an upper housing. The method includes pivoting the bucket from a closed position to an intermediate position and placing weight that exceeds a predetermined weight threshold in the bucket, thereby causing the bucket to move to an open position. Movement of the bucket to the open position causes a lift assist unit to activate. A first end of the lift assist unit is connected to the bucket and a second end of the lift assist unit is connected to the upper housing. The method also includes pivoting the bucket from the open position to the closed position. The lift assist unit provides assistance as the bucket is pivoting from the open position to the closed position.

The connecting portion serves for the connection of at least one drive train component of the linear drive to the joint part and has at least one connecting formation which is in engagement with the relevant drive train component, and wherein at least one part of the bearing portion is configured integrally together with the joining part and the connecting portion from at least one plastics material.

A control assembly is provided for actuating a motor drive assembly which is paired with the flap assembly, and a distance sensor which is coupled to the control assembly is also provided. Sensor signals are detected by the distance sensor in order to detect an operator action carried out by an operator of the vehicle, wherein the sensor signals are analyzed by the control assembly in an analysis routine in order to detect a specified operator action, and the chive assembly is actuated by the control assembly upon detecting the specified operator action. In some embodiments, when a specified charging criterion is satisfied, the analysis routine is carried out by the control assembly in a specified charging mode, in which the analysis of the sensor signals is modified on the basis of an analysis during a normal operation.
