A vehicle roof system and a method of controlling the vehicle roof system are provided. The vehicle roof system includes an opening-closing module that is provided on a roof of a vehicle and a loading module that is provided on the top of the opening-closing module. A locking mechanism is also provided within the loading module. The opening-closing module is slid in one direction or in the opposite direction to open or close the roof. The loading module has a loading space that is separated from an indoor space in the vehicle, with the opening-closing module disposed in between. The locking mechanism supports a weight of a load when in operation for locking and no longer supports the weight of the load when in operation for unlocking.

An open roof construction for a vehicle comprises a panel for opening and closing an opening in the fixed roof of the vehicle by means of at least one lever assembly connected to the panel. A stationary frame is fitted in the opening of the fixed roof. A drive motor is placed in the vicinity of the rear edge of the opening and in the vicinity of a longitudinal center line of the opening. The drive motor comprises an output shaft having a center axis which is perpendicular to a center axis of a rotor shaft of the drive motor. The drive motor is connected to a motor support which is attached to the frame by means of vibration dampers. The motor support supports a separate gearbox which is capable of transferring the driving torque from the drive motor to the at least one lever assembly connected to the panel.

The first drive train has at least one sensor for detection of a position of a rotating part, and the second drive train has no more than one sensor for detection of a position of a rotating part. The first computing process may be restarted when the closing movement is stopped.

A locking device for a top of a convertible vehicle is proposed, comprising a locking support (22), a locking hook (28), which can be shifted in a translational and rotational manner so as to be displaced between a release position and a locked position, and a driving mechanism for the locking hook (28), said driving mechanism comprising a driving motor (64) and driving a slide (36) movable on the locking support (22). The slide (36) is connected to a driving section of the locking hook (28) via a pull-link arrangement (46) in such a manner that the locking hook (28) undergoes a pivoting movement when the slide (36) is moved. The locking support (22) has an insert having a guiding track for a guiding element which is arranged on the pull-link arrangement (46) or on the locking hook (28), and the guiding track defines a pivot position of the locking hook (28) with respect to the locking support (22).

A front link shifts, based on power transmitted from a first guide shaft of a front shoe, among a full-close corresponding position that allows a movable panel to be arranged in a full-close position, a front-up corresponding position that allows the movable panel to be arranged in a front-up position, and a full-open corresponding position that allows the movable panel to be arranged in a full-open position. The front shoe check restricts power of the drive shoe from transmitting to the front shoe, when the drive shoe causes a rear link to shift between a collapsed position and a standing position.

A roof system comprises a panel movable between closed and open positions. An operating mechanism comprises front and rear devices. A slide moves the panel both in vertical and horizontal directions via the front and rear devices. At least one of the front and rear devices comprises a lever connected to the slide or the stationary rail through a second pivot pin. A first guide cam is at least partly in engagement with either a stationary guide and/or a curve in the slide. The slide includes a first and second slide part are pivotally connected to each other. One of the slide parts, that is pivotally and slidably connected to said lever, includes a cam engaging a guide curve in the stationary guide rail to force said one slide part to pivot with respect to the other slide part during at least a part of the sliding movement of the slide.
