Microjamb window & door jamb system
20220290486 · 2022-09-15 ·

The primary object of the MicroJamb Window & Door Jamb System is to provide an improved, yet, less costly jamb that, along with a system of interchangeable parts, simplifies the production and installation of windows and doors (so as to substantially reduce the time, materials and costs involved in both) and which, by design, makes windows and doors much more weather-tight. It accomplishes this by: reducing the width of the standard 4½-inch jamb by 1 inch (which immediately reduces material costs 22%) so as to fit between the drywall and sheathing of exterior walls; replacing wood molding with simulated molding of extruded plastic (reducing molding costs by over 50%); and by eliminating interior trim, when desired, altogether (reducing cost of interior trim 100%).

DOOR FRAME COVER

Door frame cover overlay systems, devices, and methods are shown and described. A frame cover overlay for an existing door frame may include a base and a removable top. The cover overlay may be secured to the existing door frame to provide protection against further damage.

CHASSIS BASED FENESTRATION SYSTEMS

A fenestration system includes a chassis formed from left and right chassis stiles, and top and bottom chassis rails. The left and right chassis stiles having an outside longitudinal groove, an outside longitudinal ridge, an inside longitudinal groove and an inside longitudinal ridge. The top and bottom chassis rails having an outside longitudinal groove, an outside longitudinal ridge, an inside longitudinal groove and an inside longitudinal ridge. Outside stile covers are configured to engage the longitudinal outside groove and the longitudinal outside ridge of the chassis stile. Inside stile covers are configured to engage the inside longitudinal groove and the inside longitudinal ridge of the chassis stile. Outside rail covers are configured to engage the longitudinal outside groove and the longitudinal outside ridge of the chassis rail. Inside rail covers are configured to engage the inside longitudinal groove and the inside longitudinal ridge of the chassis rail.

Door assembly

A door assembly and a frame member for a door assembly. The door assembly may include at least one door panel and a door frame having a plurality of frame members including a header and a pair of side jambs. The invention may also be considered a frame member. The frame member may include a core; and a top piece adjoining the core to form a structural member. The core and the top piece may be a composite of cellulosic material and at least one other material. The top piece may be a two-piece top piece and may include hollow cavities. Also disclosed are door jamb frame members and mullion frame members.

Adaptable fenestration frame members, fenestration units using the frame members, and methods of adapting the fenestration frame members. The adaptable fenestration frame members provide a construction that is adaptable for use in both pocket and non-pocket installations by including an adaptation channel forming an outside corner along one edge of the fenestration frame member. Removal of the outside corner converts that portion of the frame member from an outside corner to an inside corner, thus adapting the frame member for use in a pocket installation.
