BAFFLED WATERTIGHT BUILDING OPENING ASSEMBLY EXTENSION
20220389747 · 2022-12-08 ·

A unified building opening extension system is pre-built offsite. The extension system provides an airtight, watertight assembly that is compatible with waterproofing and air barrier systems integrated with the assembly when the opening assembly (e.g. door or window), exterior insulation, and veneer are installed on the building wall. Water intrusion or leaks are resisted even under positive and negative air pressure events (i.e., winds and storms). A baffle plate with a vent hole is fitted to a weep hole in the bottom of a frame of the assembly.

Cladding

An external cladding system includes at least one panel of sheet material, a series of vertically and horizontally oriented panel mounting extrusions, and a number of spaced apart apertures passing through a topmost/bottom most horizontal panel mounting extrusions on a wall. The apertures extend along a longitudinal axis of an internal horizontal portion of the topmost and bottom-most panel mounting extrusions. In use, the at least one panel is held in place on the panel mounting extrusions via: capping extrusions and resilient sealing strips, which are located between the panel and the capping extrusions. One or more spacer elements are located on the horizontally-oriented panel mounting extrusions, which support the bottom edge of a panel.

FOUNDATION WINDOW ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR INSTALLING A FOUNDATION WINDOW FRAME INTO A FOUNDATION WALL

The present disclosure concerns a foundation window assembly comprising a window frame comprising a plurality of frame members, and at least one casing connector arranged on at least one of said plurality of frame members; and a window casing comprising a plurality of casing members defining together a frame-receiving opening, wherein at least one of said plurality of casing members defines a frame-abutting shoulder at least partially delimited by a casing flange portion and a frame-engaging portion. A frame-engaging recess is formed in the frame-engaging portion, the frame-engaging recess at least partially circumscribing the frame-receiving opening, the casing connector being removably engageable into the frame-engaging recess when the window frame is inserted into the frame-receiving opening. The present disclosure also concerns a method for installing a foundation window frame into a foundation wall.

Adaptable fenestration frame members, fenestration units using the frame members, and methods of adapting the fenestration frame members. The adaptable fenestration frame members provide a construction that is adaptable for use in both pocket and non-pocket installations by including an adaptation channel forming an outside corner along one edge of the fenestration frame member. Removal of the outside corner converts that portion of the frame member from an outside corner to an inside corner, thus adapting the frame member for use in a pocket installation.
