Tandem Windows for High Energy Efficiency
20180209204 · 2018-07-26 ·

A configuration of tandem high efficiency primary windows is disclosed as both a structure and method to enhance the energy efficiency of windows. Each of the tandem windows is separately installed, respectively, on the exterior and interior of a building window opening. Each window may be separately operable for opening, closing, and cleaning. The interior window can include a cover, surrounding any part of the frame that protrudes into the interior space, the cover having an air gap for interior air to circulate and remove moisture from the interior surfaces of the interior window and its frame. The space between the windows is vented for removal of water vapor, if necessary, by a tube that extends from the space to the outside or to the cold side of the window opening, the tube having features that prevent the entry of outside into the space between the windows.

GARAGE DOOR WINDOW ASSEMBLY

A method to form a garage door window assembly, the method including providing (N) first trim members and (N) second trim members, wherein (N) is 3 or greater, releaseably attaching an (i)th first trim member to an (i)th second trim member to form an (i)th trim assembly, where (i) is 1 to (N). Releaseably affixing a (j)th trim assembly to a (j+1)th trim assembly, where (j) is 1 to (N1).

Solar energy-absorbing window structure and method of forming thereof
09932768 · 2018-04-03 ·

A window structure is configured to form a principal chamber enclosing a first window pane installed in an exterior wall of a building. The window structure includes a first surface configured to absorb solar energy and a main frame including a second window pane. An axial hinge is configured to allow to the main frame to tilt between a first position and a second position. When the main frame is tilted in the first position, the first surface is positioned in a first orientation that allows the first surface to directly receive sunlight through the second window pane. When the main frame is tilted in the second position, the first surface is positioned in a second orientation in which the first surface is prevented from directly receiving sunlight through the second window pane. The window structure may be used for ventilating the structure and shading during the warm weather.

Insulated window assembley

A main support frame is formed from sections of a plastic extrusion and has opposite side portions with peripheral recesses receiving an inner sash unit and outer sash unit each having a frame formed from sections of a plastic extrusion and supporting an insulated glass unit. Hinges support the dual sash units for pivotal movement between open and closed positions, and gear connected telescopic link members connect the main frame to the sash frames for simultaneous movement. A lock system includes a handle on the inner sash unit for moving straps with studs on the sash frames through a connector mechanism mounted on the main frame for simultaneously locking and releasing both sash units and for releasing only the inner sash unit. A screen and/or mini-blind may be supported between the sash units, and the window system with dual sash units may be constructed in various forms.

ARCHITECTURAL MANUFACTURES, APPARATUS AND METHODS USING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES

An apparatus, method and manufacture utilizes additive manufacturing techniques to produce architectural manufactures such as windows and doors. The manufactures may have a composite construction and may feature inclusions like metal plates and reinforcements. The model used for controlling the manufacturing process may be derived from digital scanning of the structure on which the manufacture is used. Optionally, a finite element analysis is used to test the model and alter it in response to stress and/or thermal requirements.

Window mounting assemblies

A security window mounting frame assembly, system, and method of installing building security windows configured to control passage of a compression wave and temperature gradients around a security window pane.

Panel frame joints, sills, and other elements of folding door systems with shootbolt system

A fenestration unit configured to support a shootbolt locking system includes a panel including a panel frame with a stile member and a rail member that are attached by a corner joint. The stile and rail members are elongate and extend along a respective linear axis. The stile member is configured to receive and support at least part of the shootbolt locking system. The stile member includes a stile end with a first wall, and the rail member includes a rail end with a second wall. The corner joint includes a first bracket and a second bracket that are attached together. The first bracket is disposed within the stile end. The first wall is disposed between the first and second brackets. The second bracket projects away from the stile member, and the second bracket is received within the rail end and attached to the second wall.

Security panel mounting system

A security panel mounting system having a mounting unit configured to attach to a mounting surface; a securing unit configured to engage with the mounting unit wherein the engagement of the securing unit with the mounting unit forms a base fixture; a first narrow gasket and a second narrow gasket, each narrow gasket having: a narrow gasket body; a T-shaped narrow gasket handle attached to the narrow gasket body; and a gasket hollow nested within the narrow gasket body; wherein each narrow gasket handle is configured to engage with a corresponding structure within the base fixture to secure a security panel within the base fixture; and a cover configured to engage with the base fixture. An advantage is that the hollow within each narrow gasket may allow an impact to the panel to be responded more flexibly, reducing the likelihood of the mounting system being damaged from the impact.
