Corner joint and method of manufacturing
Corner joints and methods of forming corner joints are described herein. The corner joints may provide the appearance of a mortise and tenon joint on both the exterior and interior surfaces of the corner joint, but include a mitered connection within the joint. Structures including at least one of the corner joints are also described.
Mechanical Connector, Two Part Connector and Muntin Clip for Providing a Frictional Engagement
The present application provides a mechanical connector adapted for coupling to a mating element, as part of muntin clip or a two part connector. The mechanical connector includes a body having at least one surface adapted for engaging a reciprocal surface of the mating element, wherein the at least one surface of the body of the mechanical connector slides across and frictionally engages the reciprocal surface of the mating element across a predefined distance during the coupling and decoupling of the mechanical connector relative to the mating element. The mechanical connector further includes one or more protruding elements, coupled to the at least one surface of the body of the mechanical connector, which extend in a direction toward the reciprocal surface of the mating element during engagement of the at least one surface of the mechanical connector with the reciprocal surface of the mating element, where the protruding elements is attached to the at least one surface at a first end of the protruding element and being free at the second end of the protruding element, and where the protruding element can separately flex along the length of the protruding element toward each of multiple directions including opposite directions. When the mechanical connector engages and slides relative to the mating element, the one or more protrusions are caused to flex in a direction that is substantially opposite a direction of the movement of the mechanical connector relative to the mating element along at least a portion of the predefined distance.
FENESTRATION SUPPLEMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
Aspects disclosed herein relate to a fenestration supplement system and methods of using such a system. In one aspect, the fenestration supplement system includes a fenestration supplement frame member that is configured to accept three or more fenestration supplements. In another aspect, a fenestration supplement frame member has opposing first and second ends that each receives fenestration supplements, connectors and/or hardware (such as mounting hardware). In yet another aspect, a fenestration supplement frame member includes specially shaped grooves that can accept and retain different types of connectors.
A Corner Bracket
A corner bracket for a window blind frame, the corner bracket including a central body portion and extending from the central body portion a first connector and a second connector, wherein the second connector is angled relative to the first connector; each connector includes a locating arm, a friction plate and a stop surface; wherein each friction plate defines a pair of opposed surfaces and each surface carries thereon a respective outwardly projecting deformable rib; and wherein each locating arm further includes at least one further outwardly projecting deformable rib.
PANE UNIT AND METHOD USED TO PRODUCE AND/OR SUPPLY SUCH A PANE UNIT
Disclosed is a pane unit (10), which comprises a frame structure (12) formed from a plurality of profiles (14), at least two outer panes (16, 16′), and at least one middle pane (18). The panes are each connected or attached to the frame structure (12). The pane unit (10) moreover comprises at least one functional element (20) used for the illumination of the at least one middle pane (18), which functional element (20) is inserted into at least one chamber (24) provided in the profiles (14). The plurality of profiles (14) are coupled with each other by means of at least one connection element (28), wherein the at least one connection element (28) engages with the profiles (14) in such a manner that the pane unit (10) is hermetically sealed.
Window assembly
A polymer window assembly includes a polymer window frame with a pair of jambs and a sill, and a glass unit carried by the window frame. A pair of brackets are attached to the jambs proximate corners between the jambs and the sill. Each bracket has an upright member, a horizontal member orthogonal to the upright member and a hook attached to a rear surface of the upright member. The brackets attach to the jambs so that the hook extends through a hole in the jamb, the upright member is adjacent a surface of the jamb and the horizontal member is disposed above (e.g., spaced above) the sill. The brackets support and transfer the weight of the glass unit to the jambs to inhibit (e.g., prevent) the sill from bearing the load of the glass unit, thereby inhibiting (e.g., preventing) the crushing or bowing of the sill by the glass unit and thereby inhibiting (e.g., preventing) the formation of gaps in the window assembly that allow for air and/or water infiltration through the window assembly.
FENESTRATION UNIT WITH PANEL FRAME HAVING CORNER REINFORCEMENT PLUG
A frame for a fenestration unit includes a corner member at a corner joint of first and second elongate frame members. The second elongate frame member includes a profile member and an elongate reinforcement beam disposed therein. The elongate reinforcement beam has a terminal end. The second elongate frame member further includes a corner reinforcement plug with an insert end that is received in the terminal end of the elongate reinforcement beam. The corner reinforcement plug also includes a corner end that is engaged with the corner member and an intermediate portion that is disposed between the insert end and the corner end. The corner reinforcement plug has a shoulder at a transition between the intermediate portion and the insert end, and the shoulder abuts against the terminal end. The intermediate portion is disposed within the interior of the profile member.
CONNECTING METHOD
A method of connecting hollow elongate members 12 which may be window frame members. The method comprising locating a plastics material insert 16 extending outwardly for a short distance from each hollow member 12, heating the inserts, and bringing the hollow members together such that the heated inserts 16 fuse together to connect the hollow members 12.
