A fire-rated sliding elevator glass door is provided. The door includes a face panel, a liner, a fire-rated glass panel, and a retainer that retains the glass panel in the door frame. The elevator door is configured to pass a 90-minute fire rating test. The elevator door can be implemented as a single-speed side open elevator door, a single-speed center open elevator door, a two-speed side opening sliding elevator door, or a two-speed center opening sliding elevator door. A method of constructing the fire-rated elevator door is provided.

A nozzle access device is configured to be installed in a structural element and to accept connection by a fire hose nozzle to introduce firefighting fluid into an enclosed space. The device has a housing configured to be inserted in a hole formed in the structural element. The housing has a cylindrical body and a first face with an opening surrounded by an inwardly extending cylindrical socket. The housing has a second face, with an opening, which is attached to the cylindrical body. A movable nozzle connector in the housing has a connection portion configured to receive an inserted fire hose nozzle in a locking connection and a cylindrical nozzle stop portion extending from the connection portion. The nozzle stop portion is movably coupled within an interior of the socket of the first face.

An emergency escape system is provided. The system comprises a quick release safety pin, a manual release box configured with a metal jacket that contains the pin, and a swing arm attached via a rod to a locking mechanism, the swing arm held immobile by the pin. Upon release of the pin, the arm is configured to move in a horizontal direction and cause the rod to pull and release the locking mechanism from an engaged position. The locking mechanism, when in engaged position, securely maintains at least one of a window, a door, and a panel. The safety pin, the metal jacket, and the swing arm are positioned on an outward facing surface of the manual release box. A load spring surrounding the rod is manipulated by action of the swing arm and causes release of the locking mechanism.
