Walkthrough and standoff mechanisms for ladders, ladders incorporating same and related methods

A ladder and ladder accessory are provided including an accessory that may be coupled to the ladder in multiple configurations and serve multiple purposes. In one embodiment, a pair of components are each selectively coupled with associated rails of a ladder in a first, stored state, and a second, walkthrough state. When in the walkthrough state, the components extend upwards from and above the rails so that a user may gasp the components and step between the components when transitioning from the ladder to an elevated surface (e.g., a roof) or vice versa. In another embodiment, the components may be coupled to the ladder such that they extend in a direction that is substantially transverse to a plane through which the rails extend. When in this transverse orientation, the components may be used as a stand-off device.

Ladder Safety Post Assembly
20210340816 · 2021-11-04 ·

A ladder safety post assembly is an apparatus that enables the user to safely climb in and out of manholes using the sunken ladders provided within. The apparatus may include an elongated housing, a threaded shaft, a hand wheel, a stationary rung hook, and a movable rung hook. The elongated housing provides a third point of contact for the user to hold onto when initially descending into the manhole or when coming out of the manhole. The threaded shaft enables the movement of the movable rung hook to secure the movable rung hook against a ladder rung. The hand wheel enables the user to manually rotate the threaded shaft to adjust the position of the movable rung hook along the threaded shaft. The stationary rung hook and the movable rung hook both secure the elongated housing to the sunken ladder by grabbing onto adjacent ladder rungs in a jaw-like manner.

PLATFORM SYSTEM
20230332420 · 2023-10-19 ·

A modular platform system utilizing a number of components including a platform. The platform is configured so that each of the components may interchangeably connect to any side of the platform. The components include, for example, handrails and stairways, as well as other platforms. The platform and most of the components are formed from single, continuous pieces of metal.

WHEELED PLATFORM SYSTEM

Platform systems can support a user at an elevated position while being drivable or mobile via wheels and a drive system. Rail assemblies can be folded or collapsed so that the platform system can be carried by a user from one location to another. Hand controls are operable by the user from the elevated position to move the platform systems across a ground surface and can have automatic braking capability. Each side of the platform system can be independently driven, thereby allowing zero point turning and other fine control maneuvers. Structures at the base of the platform system can limit or prevent tipping or tilting. A cage system can help keep a user on the platform(s). Platforms can be collapsed or stowed with the rest of the platform system.

FAST-FOLDING TELESCOPIC LADDER

The present invention discloses a fast-folding telescopic ladder. The telescopic ladder body includes telescopic ladder rods, pedals, hinges, and buttons provided at ends of bottom surfaces of the pedals and used for releasing a locked state between corresponding sleeve rods when pressed. A top end of one of the telescopic ladder rods is fixed with a handrail rod. An extension part includes a plurality of bottom tubes that are respectively socketed and matched with bottom ends of the telescopic ladder rods; and a transverse connecting piece, two ends of which are respectively socketed and matched with top ends of the paired bottom tubes. A driving mechanism that realizes the vertical movement of the linkage rod by pedaling is arranged between the bottoms of the two paired bottom tubes. This solves the problem of inconvenient operation when folding a telescopic ladder.

Step stool with moveable handrail

A step stool includes a step frame including a plurality of legs and a handrail coupled to the step frame. The step frame is foldable so as to assume a flat profile for storage. The handrail is mounted on the step frame and is movable relative to the step frame. The handrail provides support for a user standing on the step frame.

Stability system for a fire apparatus

A vehicle includes a chassis, a front axle coupled to the chassis, a rear axle coupled to the chassis, and a stability system. The stability system includes a pair of front downriggers coupled to the chassis forward of the front axle and an outrigger assembly coupled to the chassis between the front axle and the rear axle. The outrigger assembly includes a pair of outriggers that are selectively extendable laterally outward at an angle relative to a horizontal.

SAFETY ACCESSORY

A safety accessory for stabilizing a user on a step ladder is provided. The safety accessory includes an elongate member having a shaft and at least one handle portion extending perpendicularly to the shaft and structured to be gripped by the user, the handle portion having a strap ring; a harness configured to removeably couple to the strap ring of the handle portion, the harness being structured to cradle and urge the user toward the center of gravity of the step ladder when the user stands on at least one of the plurality of steps of the step ladder; and a clamp configured to removeably attach to a selected location on the side rail of the step ladder, the clamp having a receptacle structured to slideably receive the shaft of the elongate member and a positioning structure configured to maintain the shaft of the elongate member into a selected one of a plurality of longitudinal positions with respect to the clamp. The safety accessory acts to stabilize the user when he/she grips the handle portion of the elongate member.

EXTENDABLE WALKTHROUGH DEVICE FOR LADDERS
20230349235 · 2023-11-02 ·

Various embodiments of ladders and ladder components are provided. In one embodiment, a ladder includes a first rail, a second rail spaced apart from the first rail, and a plurality of rungs extending between and coupled to the first rail and the second rail. A walkthrough device may include a first component having a sleeve coupled to the first rail and a pole a pole slidably coupled to the sleeve between at least two positions including a retracted position and an extended position. In some embodiments, the sleeve may be fixedly coupled with the first rail and intended to remain attached (e.g., not intended for removal by a user). In another embodiment, the first component may be removably attached to the first rail so that a user may utilize and employ the device, and subsequently remove it, as desired.
