DOWNHOLE ROTARY SLIP RING JOINT TO ALLOW ROTATION OF ASSEMBLIES WITH ELECTRICAL AND FIBER OPTIC CONTROL LINES
Provided is a downhole rotary slip ring joint, a well system, and a method for accessing a wellbore. The downhole rotary slip ring joint, in one aspect, includes an outer mandrel, an inner mandrel operable to rotate relative to the outer mandrel, an outer mandrel communication connection coupled to the outer mandrel, and an inner mandrel communication connection coupled to the inner mandrel. The downhole rotary slip ring joint, according to this aspect, further includes a passageway extending through the outer mandrel and the inner mandrel, the passageway configured to provide continuous coupling between the outer mandrel communication connection and the inner mandrel communication connection regardless of a rotation of the inner mandrel relative to the outer mandrel, wherein the downhole rotary slip ring joint is operable to be coupled to a wellbore access tool.

Provided is a downhole rotary slip ring joint, a well system, and a method for accessing a wellbore. The downhole rotary slip ring joint, in one aspect, includes an outer mandrel, an inner mandrel operable to rotate relative to the outer mandrel, first and second outer mandrel communication connections coupled to the outer mandrel. The downhole rotary slip ring joint, according to this aspect, further includes first and second inner mandrel communication connections coupled to the inner mandrel, a first and second passageway extending through the outer mandrel and the inner mandrel, the first and second passageway configured to provide continuous coupling between the second outer mandrel communication connection and the second inner mandrel communication connection regardless of a rotation of the inner mandrel relative to the outer mandrel, wherein the downhole rotary slip ring joint is operable to be coupled to a wellbore access tool.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SEALING A SIDE POCKET MANDREL
A method for sealing a side pocket mandrel and hydraulic tube includes moving a sealant dispenser into a pocket of the side pocket mandrel from within a well tubing. The sealant dispenser has an upper seal and a lower seal spaced apart therefrom; the seals are sealingly engaged with the pocket. A space between the upper seal and the lower seal is in fluid communication with at least one port in the pocket. A curable sealant is moved from the sealant dispenser into the pocket and into the tube. Either the sealant is allowed to cure or the sealant dispenser is unlatched from a running tool used to move the sealant dispenser into the pocket.
METHOD FOR PACKAGING COMPONENTS, ASSEMBLIES AND MODULES IN DOWNHOLE TOOLS
The apparatus may include a tool conveyed by a conveyance device. The tool has a body with a load bearing section, an outer surface defined by a diameter, a rotational axis, and a channel in the body extending from an opening at the outer surface. At least a part of the channel is inclined relative to the rotational axis of the body at the axial location of the opening in the body. The apparatus also includes at least one functional element disposed in the channel; and a conduit operatively connected to the at least one functional element transferring at least one of: (i) energy, (ii) a signal, (iii) a fluid, (iv) and formation material. Alternatively, the apparatus includes at least one self-contained functional element disposed in the channel.

Method, apparatus, and system for injecting chemicals into lower tertiary wells
A chemical injection mandrel for injecting chemicals into a Lower Tertiary well includes a chemical injector disposed on an exterior surface of a mandrel. The chemical injection mandrel connects to the production tubing such that the chemical injector portion of the chemical injection mandrel is disposed in the annulus between the production tubing and wellbore at or near the bottom of the hole. A floating production storage and offloading unit on the surface of the water may include a chemical injection pump that injects chemicals downhole via a chemical fluid line that runs in the annulus between the production tubing and the wellbore. The chemical fluid line connects to the chemical injector portion of the chemical injection mandrel and delivers chemicals to the interior passageway of the mandrel of the chemical injection mandrel where the chemicals mix with the production flow directed to the surface.
