An improved cable guard and methods of use are provided for securing an MLE cable to an ESP system in a wellbore casing, the system having flange bolts and an annular channel. The cable guard may be unitary (i.e., one piece), comprising a body having a bridge portion and two side portions forming a cavity for securing the cable to the system, two connectors extending from the side portions, each connector forming at least one aperture for receiving a flange bolt, and skids extending from the side portions for guiding movement of the system within the casing. In some embodiments, methods of using the improved cable guard may comprise providing the cable guard, positioning the cable guard to receive the cable within the cavity and to receive at least one flange bolt within an aperture, and securing the cable guard to the system.

A method performed during a run-in-hole process for a casing section includes applying pressure to a cable against an outer portion of the casing section. Additionally, the method includes ultrasonic welding the cable to the outer portion of the casing section while the pressure is applied to the cable against the outer portion of the casing section.

SECURING SYSTEM INTENDED TO SECURE A CABLE TO A TUBE

Securing system intended to secure a cable to a tube for a tubular column for oil & gas, energy, or storage applications, said securing system comprising: a bearing surface and an outside surface, the bearing surface being turned inwardly, said bearing surface defining an inside housing for the tube, the outside surface being turned outward relative to the bearing surface, a tube fixing mechanism having an open state and a closed state, the tube fixing mechanism being configured to fix the securing system on the tube in the closed state of the tube fixing mechanism, the tube being housed in the inside housing in said closed state of the tube fixing mechanism, said tube fixing mechanism being mobile relative to the tube in an open state of the tube fixing mechanism; said tube fixing mechanism comprises a band, the band extending along a longitudinal axis, the band extending radially, the band extending around the tube, said band forming the bearing surface. a cable securing mechanism having an outside housing for securing the cable, said outside housing having an opening for receiving, through said opening, the cable inside the outside housing, said opening of the outside housing being arranged on the outside surface.

Method for attaching a control line clamp

A control line clamp includes a clamping element for retaining one or more control lines alongside a pipe; a first collar; and a second collar. The clamping element is arranged to be attached to the pipe by positioning the first and second collars around the pipe on opposing sides of the clamping element and moving the first and second collars relatively towards each other in an axial direction.

A method and apparatus that provides a quick connection hydraulic fracturing plug that allows the hydraulic fracturing plug to connect to a mandrel of a drill string with installation of a single shear pin to establish a connection.

Portable lower sheave stand for slickline unit

A system includes an upper sheave configured to orient a cable towards a well, a lower sheave, having a center, configured to orient the cable towards the upper sheave, and a sheave stand. The sheave stand includes a shaft, running through the center of the lower sheave, configured to enable rotation of the lower sheave about a central axis, a sheave holder, fixed to the shaft, configured to hold the lower sheave in a vertical position, a tool leg, fixed to the shaft, configured to elevate the shaft to a height above a surface, and a floor stand, fixed to the tool leg, configured to anchor the sheave stand to the surface. The sheave stand stabilizes the cable by maintaining the lower sheave in a fixed rotational position.

Downhole fiber optic wet mate connections

A wet mate connection can include two connector assemblies, each connector assembly including at least one connector and a protective barrier displaceable between closed and open positions, and one connector assembly including an engagement device that displaces the protective barrier of the other connector assembly from the closed position to the open position in response to engagement between the connector assemblies. A method of making a connection between lines in a well can include installing a connector assembly, then installing another connector assembly, each connector assembly including a connector and an alignment profile, then axially compressing the connector assemblies, thereby opening protective barriers for the respective connectors, operatively connecting the connectors, and engaging the alignment profiles, thereby maintaining rotational alignment of the connectors. A system for use with a well can include a wet mate optical connection made between packers of the respective connector assemblies.

WIRELINE HEAD FOR CABLE TERMINATION

Examples herein include systems and methods for improved wireline heads for cable termination. An example wireline head can include a housing configured to receive a frustoconical-shaped object and having external threads on an outer surface of the housing. The wireline head can include a frustoconical liner shaped to fit within the housing. One or more inserts can fit within the liner, the inserts trapping an outer portion of the cable between each other or between an insert and the liner. An end cap can be threaded onto the external threads of the housing, applying force to the inserts and liner within the housing. With sufficient force, the liner can plastically deform and provide a secure connection for the cable. Conductors can be inserted between components to provide grounding. The wireline head can then manipulate a tool within a wellbore and send it power and data.
