Passive start drip chamber
A drip chamber is described that is used in medical infusion therapy, wherein the drip chamber utilizes valving to control flow of one or more fluids to a patient. The drip chamber includes a body forming a chamber, wherein fluid may enter via two or more flow ports, and an output port, where fluid may exit the chamber. A float controls fluid flow through one or more flow ports into the chamber such that the flow exiting the chamber may be limited to a single fluid or a combination of the fluids entering the chamber. The float is configured to be retained within the chamber, and the float moves within the chamber based on a level of fluid within the chamber. The control characteristics of the float are determinable by attributing specific buoyancy and dimensions to the float.
Passive Safety Huber Needle
A safety needle system includes a safety mechanism for a needle assembly, such as a Huber needle. A main body has a channel having a proximal end to encompass tubing and a distal end for positioning proximate a needle. The main body further has a first hinge mechanism and a first latching mechanism. A movable cover has needle receptacle, a second hinge mechanism connected with the first hinge mechanism of the main body, and a biasing member for pivoting movable cover about the first and second hinge mechanisms relative to the main body. The movable cover has a second latching mechanism to latch with the first latching mechanism in a closed position, in which the safety mechanism can be undocked from the needle and slid away from the needle along the tubing. The movable cover has a release mechanism to allow pivoting of the movable cover about the hinge mechanisms such that the needle receptacle of the movable cover at least partially receives the needle of the needle assembly in an open, locked position.
Fluid-connection mechanism for patch-pumps
The present invention provides a selectively activatable patch-pump assembly, said patch-pump assembly comprising: • a sealed prefilled drug-reservoir containing a drug to be delivered; • an associated conduit in connection therewith; • a selectively activatable penetrator which penetrates said sealed prefilled drug-reservoir and facilitates drug access to said conduit; and • a selectively activatable, associated, cannula-containing assembly for delivering a drug subcutaneously to a subject, in fluid connection with said conduit; wherein a selective activation-step initiates penetration of said sealed prefilled drug-reservoir, drug access from said drug-reservoir to said conduit, drug access from said conduit to said cannula-containing assembly and delivery from said cannula-containing assembly, thereby being a selectively activatable patch-pump assembly.
LUER LOCK INTRAVENOUS CONNECTOR
Luer lock connectors are provided that include an inner core of a hard material, the inner core sized and shaped to mate with an inner portion of an opposing luer lock connector, an outer layer of a soft material disposed on an outer surface of the inner core, and a plurality of grip features disposed on an outer surface of the outer layer, wherein the plurality of grip features are configured to provide a slip resistant grip surface. Infusion sets and infusion set luer lock connectors are also provided.

SECURE MEDICATION DELIVERY
A method includes providing a medication delivery vehicle comprising a reservoir with a seal formed thereon and a cantilevered beam micro-machined from a layer of material and coupled to the reservoir, the cantilevered beam comprising a tip for puncturing the seal, applying an electric field to the cantilevered beam that impels the tip forward and causes the tip to break through the seal of the reservoir, and changing the electric field to impel the micro-machined tip backward and thereby release a medication from the reservoir. A computer program product and computer system corresponding to the method are also disclosed.

Universal needlefree bag access device
An attachment arrangement has a housing and a needle located within the housing. The arrangement allows administration ports of different sizes to be inserted into and secured within the housing. In certain embodiments, compliant retainers secure the administration port within the housing. In certain other embodiments, the administration port is secured within the housing when the housing is compressed against the administration port by a housing compression element. Once the administration port is secured within the housing, a fluid-tight seal is formed between the attachment device and the administration port.
