Rotating and reciprocating swivel apparatus and method

What is provided is a method and apparatus wherein a swivel can be detachably connected to an annular blowout preventer thereby separating the drilling fluid or mud into upper and lower sections and allowing the fluid to be displaced in two stages, such as while the drill string is being rotated and/or reciprocated. In one embodiment the sleeve or housing can be rotatably and sealably connected to a mandrel. The swivel can be incorporated into a drill or well string and enabling string sections both above and below the sleeve to be rotated in relation to the sleeve. In one embodiment the drill or well string does not move in a longitudinal direction relative to the swivel. In one embodiment, the drill or well string does move longitudinally relative to the sleeve or housing of the swivel.

A method for reinforcing a pipe connection between two pipes includes forming a carbon fiber composite reinforcement having a substantially circular cross-section, a length, a central axis along the length, an outer surface, and an inner surface, and bonding the outer surface of the reinforcement to an inner surface of one of the two pipes.

Connector for risers equipped with an external locking collar

The present invention is a connector (5) for a riser equipped with an external locking collar (11). Locking collar (11) cooperates with a male flange (24) of a male connector element (9) and a female flange (23) of a female connector element (8) by means of a series of tenons. The invention also relates to a riser including several sections (4) assembled by a connector (5).

LARGE-WIDTH/DIAMETER RISER SEGMENT LOWERABLE THROUGH A ROTARY OF A DRILLING RIG

This disclosure includes auxiliary-line riser segment assemblies (e.g., with isolation units) that are suitable for managed pressure drilling (MPD) and that can be lowered (e.g., when connected to other riser segment assemblies) through a rotary of a drilling rig. Some embodiments are configured to have portions of the auxiliary lines connected (e.g., without welding) below the rotary.

RISER TOP CONNECTOR

A riser top connector assembly (20) is shown. The assembly (20) includes a first connector part (21) arranged on a flexible jumper prepared for connection with a second connector part (40) arranged on top of a marine riser tower assembly projecting from the seabed. The first connector part (21) is provided with suspension means adapted to engage with supporting means in order to be supported and be able to tilt in the marine riser tower assembly. The first connector part (21) includes a housing (22) that receives an extendable termination hub (23) having a clamp connector (24) attached thereto. The jumper termination hub (23) is alignable with a riser hub (44) on the second connector part (40) when the first connector part (21) is being tilted relative to the marine riser tower assembly.

MARINE RISER SECTION FOR SUBSEA WELLBORE RELATED OPERATIONS

A drilling marine riser section comprises a main riser pipe with radially extending flanges and multiple auxiliary pipes at least comprising a choke line and a kill line. One or more clamps retain the auxiliary pipes. Further the riser section has buoyancy members. The choke line and the kill line are connected to each of the flanges in a tensile load sharing arrangement, so that—in vertical use orientation of the riser section in a riser string—weight stress is distributed in the main riser pipe and the choke line and the kill line. The buoyancy members form an exterior of the riser section including diametrically opposed and parallel flat bottom and top stacking faces relative to the axis of the main riser pipe, allowing stacking of riser sections in horizontal orientation. The choke line and the kill line are arranged diametrically opposite from one another and between the flat bottom and top stacking faces.

Riser system

A riser system configured to be secured between a surface vessel and a subsea location comprises a primary conduit and an auxiliary conduit extending adjacent the primary conduit, wherein the primary and auxiliary conduits are connected together at an axial location along the riser system via a connecting portion. The auxiliary conduit comprises a composite material formed of at least a matrix and one or more reinforcing elements embedded within the matrix.

Surface platform for use with surface bops and high-pressure risers

A mudline closure device is lowered between tensioners coupled to a deck of a vessel or rig onto a subsea wellhead. A tensioner platform is then attached to the tensioners. The tensioner platform includes a platform opening having an inner diameter through which an emergency disconnect system may pass. The tensioner platform also includes rotation bearings secured in the platform opening. A split support includes outer surfaces disposed along its circumference. The outer surfaces are seated on the rotation bearings. The split support includes a support opening having an inner diameter through which a marine riser may pass. The split support also includes a landing shoulder secured in the support opening to suspend a surface blowout preventer to the deck. As the vessel or rig changes direction, the split support rotates relative to the tensioner platform without imparting excessive torsion on the marine riser.

APPARATUS AND METHOD RELATING TO MANAGED PRESSURE DRILLING

An actuatable sealing mechanism for sealing a fluid channel provided between two co-axially arranged tubular members having a central longitudinal axis. The actuatable actuable sealing mechanism comprises an elastomeric seal, an axially moveable actuating sleeve member (1400, 2400, 3020) and a radially moveable activating member. The activating member is configured to be moveable in a radial direction in use to translate the actuatable sealing mechanism between an unsealed state and a sealed state. When it is in the sealed state, the activating member axially compresses the elastomeric seal sufficiently to expand the elastomeric seal in the said radial direction to seal the fluid channel.
