Guide device
A guide device for a tool string to guide the tool string down a wellbore, the guide device comprising: a coupling to connect the guide device to an end of a tool string, a mandrel and a tip at a leading end of the mandrel, a centralising device supported by the mandrel, and a joint (a flexible joint or articulation joint) between the mandrel and the coupling allowing angular displacement of the mandrel relative to the tool string so that the tip can displace from a longitudinal axis of the tool string.
Mechanical Rotary Steering Drilling Tool
A mechanical rotary steering drilling tool for steering a drill string includes a test section, a clutch device, a control mechanism, and an execution part. The test section is used as an upper joint in cooperation with the tool. The clutch device is externally connected with a guide body and internally coupled with a mandrel. A groove on a cylindrical surface of a switch control cylinder is matched with a control screw to determine rotation of a fluid channel switch. A pushing block of the execution part extends out against a wellbore wall to push a drill bit for steering drilling after the fluid channel is opened.

The first joint assembly includes a first joint, a guide key, a connecting sleeve including a locking groove, a second joint, and an outer pipe; the first joint of the first joint assembly is in threaded connection to the cable bridle, and the second joint is in threaded connection to the outer pipe. The connecting sleeve is disposed inside the outer pipe and is connected to the first joint through the guide key. The second joint assembly includes a plurality of locking claws, a third joint, and a head.
EXPANDING METAL FOR PLUG AND ABANDONMENT
Provided is an expandable metal plug for use in a wellbore tubular. The expandable metal plug, in one aspect, includes a downhole member positionable proximate a plug and abandonment section in a wellbore tubular, wherein at least a portion of the downhole member comprises a metal configured to expand in response to hydrolysis to seal the wellbore tubular
Production logging tool and downhole fluid analysis probes deploying method
A guiding sub-section (2) of a production logging tool (1) comprises a central rigid stem (30) having a first mechanical connector (33) at one end and a second mechanical connector (34) at an another end, and carrying a roller deploying arrangement (31) comprising multiple external articulated arms (35A, 35B, 35C) circumferentially distributed about said body, each articulated arm comprising a roller assembly (32A, 32B, 32C) adapted for contact with a wall (7) of the hydrocarbon well (4) and operable from a retracted configuration into a radially extended configuration. The roller assembly (32A, 32B, 32C) comprises an arm hinge (51) coupling a first arm part and a second arm part of each articulated arm (35A, 35B and 35C) and having an arm hinge axis (AA′) substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (XX′), a roller bearing (52) secured onto the arm hinge (51) and having a roller axis (BB′) angled with respect to the hinge axis (AA′), and an anti-slippage friction roller (53) received onto the roller bearing (52) in a rotation free manner.
Core detection device of coring instrument
A core detection device of a coring instrument includes a base body and a core switch mechanism provided on the base body. The base body is provided with a core channel communicated with a core barrel. The core switch mechanism includes a detection portion, a connecting rod assembly and a travel switch which are sequentially arranged and connected along a length direction of the coring instrument. The detection portion is rotatably installed on the base body and one end thereof is extended into the core channel, so that a core passing through the core channel pushes the detection portion to rotate. The connecting rod assembly can be pulled by the rotating detection portion to trigger the travel switch to operate. The core switch mechanism adopts a slider-connecting rod structure, and the kinematic pairs are mainly a sliding pair and a rotating pair.
Using an acoustic device to identify external apparatus mounted to a tubular
A method, apparatus and system for locating external apparatus mounted to a tubular in a wellbore. The identification of apparatus, such as cable clamps, enables other tools in the string to operate more precisely. A computer model is used to locate the apparatus from acoustic images, which images are acquired using a downhole device having an acoustic sensor or acoustic array. The model may be a classifier, which may be machine trained to classify whether an apparatus is present, its location and its orientation. Automating this locating enables very long wellbores to be processed quickly.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ACTIVE CENTRALIZATION OF DOWNHOLE WELL TOOLS
A technique facilitates control over the positioning of a well tool in a wellbore or other type of borehole. A well tool is combined with a centralizer system. The centralizer system has a plurality of extension members which are oriented to extend outwardly, e.g. radially outwardly, from the well tool. The extension members of the plurality of extension members are controllable to enable controlled positioning of the well tool within the borehole. The extension members may be actuated to centralize the well tool along a desired borehole axis.
Phase transformation material delivery and deployment chassis for openhole isolation
An openhole interval of a well may be sealed by deploying a liquified phase transformation material to the openhole interval and allowing it to harden. In at least one example, this may be performed in a single step of building and maintaining pressure. The pressure may rupture a membrane, to introduce a fluid into a chamber with a reactive material (e.g. powder) in a delivery chassis, whereupon the fluid may exothermically combine with the reactive material to liquify the solid phase transformation material. The same applied pressure may also deliver the liquified phase transformation material to a deployment chassis, which then distributes the liquified phase transformation material under pressure to the openhole interval of the well. Various delivery chassis, deployment chassis, and related compositions and methods are disclosed as well.
Systems and methods for setting an extreme-range anchor within a wellbore
Systems and methods include an extreme range anchor, having extending assemblies configured to engage a wellbore, for providing a self-centering, reusable anchor location within a wellbore. The extending assemblies include a first set of arms connected to a first brace, a second set of arms connected to a second brace, and a set of footplates. Each footplate in the set of footplates is connected to the first set of arms and the second set of arms. Each footplate includes a fixator coupled to a radially external face and configured to securely engage the wellbore. The system also includes a pull rod rigidly coupled to the first brace and slidably connected to the second brace. Forcing the pull rod in an axial direction shortens a distance between the first brace and the second brace and forces the set of footplates to move in a radial direction toward the wellbore.
