WOUND COMPOSITE CORE FOR MOLDED COMPONENTS
An apparatus and a technique related to a composite member of two different composite materials is disclosed. Aspects include a technique which may include forming a first portion using a first composite material and forming a second portion molding a second composite material over the first portion. Aspects further include a millable frac or bridge plug may be created.
EXTENDED REACH PLUG
A settable down hole tool is of increased drillability and/or of increased expansibility. The improvement in drillability can be caused by fracturing cast iron slips into a large number of small pieces that can be circulated out of a well without further reduction in size. The improvement in expansibility can be partially caused by providing an expander cone of increased hardness thereby allowing an increased angle on the expander cone and slips. The improvement in expansibility can be partially caused by increasing the thickness of the slips.
Downhole valve assembly
Downhole tools and methods for isolating a wellbore. A downhole tool can include a body having a bore or flowpath formed therethrough, and one or more sealing members disposed therein. The one or more sealing members can include an annular base and a curved surface having an upper face and a lower face, wherein one or more first radii define the upper face, and one or more second radii define the lower face, and wherein, at any point on the curved surface, the first radius is greater than the second radius. The sealing members can be disposed within the bore of the tool using one or more annular sealing devices disposed about the one or more sealing members.
Heat sources and alloys for use in down-hole applications
A chemical reaction heat source for use in heaters used in down-hole application. The heat source has a fuel composition that comprises thermite and a damping agent. The use of the thermite mix enables the heaters of the present invention to generate hotter temperature down wells. This in turn allows the use of Bismuth/Germanium alloys, which have higher melting points, to enable the production of plugs for the abandonment of deeper wells where subterranean temperatures are higher.
Non-metallic slip assembly and related methods
A downhole isolation tool includes a mandrel made of non-metallic material, the mandrel comprising an isolation region at a first end of the mandrel, a shear sleeve adapter disposable on an outer surface of the isolation region, the shear sleeve adapter having holes aligned with holes in the outer surface of the isolation region, a slip assembly positioned around an outer surface of the mandrel, a packing element positioned around the outer surface of the mandrel, and a shoe positioned around the outer surface of the mandrel at a second end of the mandrel.
METHODS AND ELECTRICALLY-ACTUATED APPARATUS FOR WELLBORE OPERATIONS
Embodiments of a bottomhole assembly BHA for completion of a wellbore are deployed on electrically-enabled coiled tubing (CT) and permit components of the BHA to be independently electrically actuated from surface for completion of multiple zones in a single trip using a single BHA having at least two electrically-actuated variable diameter packers. One or both of the packers may be actuated to expand or retract for opening and closing off a variety of flowpaths between the BHA and the wellbore, in new wellbores, old wellbores, cased wellbores, wellbores with sleeves and in openhole wellbores. Additional components in the BHA, which may also be electrically-actuated or powered, permit perforating, locating of the BHA in the wellbore such as using casing collar locators and microseismic monitoring in real time or in memory mode.
Frac Plug System Having Bottom Sub Geometry For Improved Flow Back, Milling and/or Setting
A technique facilitates plugging of a wellbore during, for example, a fracturing operation. A frac plug is constructed with an unobstructed internal passage and comprises a seal member combined with a plurality of slips for engaging a surrounding wall, e.g. a surrounding wellbore wall. Additionally, the frac plug comprises a lower sub having raised edges arranged to catch a ball during a flow back stage without blocking flow along the unobstructed internal passage.
DOWNHOLE ASSEMBLY FOR SELECTIVELY SEALING OFF A WELLBORE
Downhole assemblies and methods for isolating a wellbore.
FRAC PLUG WITH ROD PLUG
A frac plug system for use in a wellbore, including a frac plug; and a plug member configured to set the frac plug in the wellbore and to control a flow of fluid through the frac plug once the frac plug is set in the wellbore. A method of controlling a flow of fluid within a wellbore, including conveying a frac plug system in the wellbore, the frac plug system including a frac plug and a plug member; setting the frac plug in the wellbore using the plug member; and control the flow of fluid through the frac plug using the plug member once the frac plug is set in the wellbore.
Holding and crushing device for barrier plug
Disclosed is a plug arrangement including glass arranged in one or more seats in a plug housing, the seat or seats forming support members supporting the glass or glasses in an axial direction. At least one of the support members includes an axially displaceable split sleeve which, in one direction, includes a support ring/face abutting against the glass, and in the other direction a number of split sleeve arms arranged to rest against an edge arranged in the plug housing.
