Modular well capping system, kit, and methods

A transportable well capping system, kit, and methods are provided. The transportable well capping system can include a plurality of modular subsystems capable of fitting within a bed of a standard full-sized pickup truck. The modular subsystems can include a sealing mechanism subassembly including a plurality of different sized seals for securing to a range of diameters of well casings, a gas flow meter subassembly, a hydrogen sulfide scrubber subassembly, a compressor and storage subassembly capable of storing the scrubbed methane in a storage tank, and a methane destruction subassembly capable of igniting the scrubbed methane gas and converting it to carbon dioxide. The subassemblies are sized to be capable of fitting within the bed of a standard full-sized pickup truck and can be driven to a location of an abandoned well and fluidically interconnected in a manner to cap the abandoned well.

The present invention relates to an annular barrier for providing isolation of a zone in a well having an isolation layer of less than 5 metres, comprising a tubular metal part configured to be mounted as part of a well tubular metal structure, the tubular metal part having an outer face, an opening and an axial extension along the well tubular metal structure, a first expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular metal part, the first expandable metal sleeve having a first thickness, a first end and a second end, the first end of the expandable metal sleeve being connected with the outer face of the tubular metal part, a second expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular metal part, the second expandable metal sleeve having substantially the same thickness as the first expandable metal sleeve, and the second expandable metal sleeve having a first end connected with the outer face of the tubular metal part and a second end, wherein the annular barrier further comprises a first connecting sleeve having a second thickness being greater than the first thickness, the first connecting sleeve comprises a first sleeve end connected to the second end of the first expandable metal sleeve and a second sleeve end connected with the second end of the second expandable metal sleeve, and the annular barrier comprises an annular space defined between the tubular metal part, the first connecting sleeve and the expandable metal sleeves. The invention also relates to a downhole system comprising a plurality of the annular barriers and the well tubular metal structure.

Formation testing and sampling tool for stimulation of tight and ultra-tight formations

A fluid sampling tool and method for fluid sampling in an ultra-tight or tight formation. The tool may include a packer assembly that includes one or more inflatable packers and one or more exhaust ports, a multi-chamber section that includes one or more sample chambers, and at least two storage sections that each contain a storage tank, wherein each storage tank holds a stimulation fluid. A method for performing a stimulation operation that includes disposing a fluid sampling tool into a well, moving the fluid sampling tool to a zone of interest, and isolating the zone of interest with a packer assembly on the fluid sampling tool. The method may further include performing a first pressure draw down and a first pressure build up, performing an injectivity test, and performing a sampling process.

Formation testing and sampling tool for stimulation of tight and ultra-tight formations

A fluid sampling tool and method for fluid sampling in an ultra-tight or tight formation. The tool may include a packer assembly that includes one or more inflatable packers and one or more exhaust ports, a multi-chamber section that includes one or more sample chambers, and at least two storage sections that each contain a storage tank, wherein each storage tank holds a stimulation fluid. Provided is a solid-state lost circulation apparatus that may comprise a drillable tube with one or more fluid ports, an expandable layer, and an isolation layer. Upon introduction of the expandable layer to an activation agent through one or more fluid ports, the expandable layer may activate, expand, and harden into a hardened and expanded expandable layer, while rupturing the isolation layer. Further provided is a lost circulation assembly system that may include a drill pipe and a solid-state lost circulation apparatus. Further provided is a method of mitigating a lost circulation zone with a lost circulation assembly system. Further provided is a solid plug that may be positioned in a wellbore and may include a hardened and expanded expandable layer and a drillable tube. Further provided is a remnant of a solid plug that may form a fluid-tight seal across a face of a lost circulation zone.
