The ball valve includes a housing, a ball seat arranged in the housing, a ball member mounted within the housing and being rotatable relative to the ball seat between open and closed positions, the ball seat and ball member defining respective through bores, the ball member including a sealing surface, a bore surface and a leading edge surface extending between the sealing surface and the bore surface, the leading edge surface being configured to cut a body extending at least partially through the valve upon closure of the ball member, wherein said leading edge surface is truncated. The ball member may include a relief region proximate the leading edge surface.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATIC DRILL OUT
An improved debris catcher and choke system for receiving a pressurized fluid stream from wellbore operations where a controller can selectively place a plurality of debris catchers in debris catching or flushing modes, and the cleaned fluids from one of the debris catchers can be used to flush one of the other debris catchers. One or more embodiments relate to systems and methods for utilizing debris catchers and choke valves.
Failsafe valve system
A technique facilitates failsafe closure of a valve used in, for example, a subsea test tree. The technique utilizes a valve combined with a cutter oriented to sever well equipment passing through an interior passage of the valve. The valve is operatively coupled with an actuation system having an actuator piston which controls cutting and valve closure. The failsafe valve and the cutter are shifted to an open position by applying pressure in a control fluid chamber to shift the actuator piston. However, the actuator piston, and thus the valve and cutter, are biased toward a closed position via pressure applied in a pressure chamber and a gas precharge chamber. The combined pressure ensures adequate force for shearing of the well equipment and closure of the valve when hydraulic control pressure is lost. In some applications, additional closing force may be selectively provided to the actuator piston.
Apparatus and method for testing a blowout preventer
An apparatus including a drilling tool for locating in a wellhead has fluid ports therein. The apparatus further includes a collar which is mateable with the drilling tool, such that the fluid ports in the drilling tool are blocked by the collar when the collar is mated with the drilling tool. The drilling tool can be a bit runnable drill string tool. The apparatus may also include a bit runnable wear bushing. The apparatus can advantageously be used to perform a method of testing a blowout preventer (BOP) on a subsea wellhead.
FLUID TOLERANT SUBSEA MANIFOLD SYSTEM
A technique which enables construction and operation of a subsea landing string system having a system manifold or manifolds unprotected by a dielectric fluid compensated enclosure. The manifolds contain directional control valves and corresponding solenoids which are able to operate while being exposed to environmental fluids such as seawater. The ability to operate manifolds in an unprotected environment enables the manifolds to be positioned in a variety of locations along the subsea landing string system or in cooperation with the subsea landing string system. The subsea landing string system also may be a modular system in which manifolds are added or removed according to the parameters of a given operation.
Valve apparatus
A valve apparatus (10) comprises a housing (12) defining a flow path (14), a valve seat (42) located within the housing (12) around a periphery of the flow path (14), a carriage member (16) located within the housing (12), a cutting arrangement (28) mounted on the carriage member (16), and a valve member (32) mounted on the carriage member (16) via a connection assembly (34) which permits relative movement between the valve member (32) and the carriage member (16). The carriage member (16) is moveable from a first position towards a second position to drive the cutting arrangement (28) across the flow path (14) and to move the valve member (32) into a position in which relative movement between the valve member (32) and the carriage member (16) permits the valve member (32) to sealingly engage and disengage the valve seat (42) to control flow along the flow path (14).
Landing string
A landing string includes a valve having a valve member mounted within a flow path extending through the landing string, and a valve control system for use in operating the valve to move the valve member between open and closed positions to control flow along the flow path. The valve control system is reconfigurable between a first configuration in which the valve is operated or controlled under a fail-as-is (FAI) mode of operation, and a second configuration in which the valve is operated or controlled under a fail-close (FC) mode of operation.
Automatic choking hydraulic shock reduction valve
A valve for preventing hydraulic shock and water hammer in downstream equipment, the valve including a valve body with an internal oil dampening chamber, an orifice arranged within the oil dampening chamber, a flow dampener positioned between the valve inlet and the orifice, and a spring between the valve body and the orifice. The valve is pressure compensated based on the ambient fluid pressure.
Subsea tree including a fluid swivel
A subsea tree including a fluid swivel, the fluid swivel comprising: (a) a fixed inner body defining an inlet for fluid communication with a production conduit fora subsea well; (b) a rotatable outer body defining an outlet and an attachment point for fluid communication with a riser; (c) a first interface between the fixed inner body and the rotatable outer body defining a fluid chamber in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet; and (d) a first seal between the fixed inner body and the rotatable outer body; wherein, when the fluid swivel is attached to the riser, the riser is capable of rotational movement around the subsea tree.
Subsea test tree intervention package
A riser intervention system for use with a subsea test tree includes a lower riser package spool, an intermediate spool, and a riser stress joint. The lower riser package spool may include a bore and a shoulder projecting into the bore such that the subsea test tree is landable on the shoulder within the lower riser package spool. The intermediate spool is connectable to the lower riser package spool to secure the subsea test tree within the bore of the lower riser package spool such that the lower riser package spool is in fluid communication with the intermediate spool. The riser stress joint is releasably connectable to the intermediate spool using such that the intermediate spool is in fluid communication with the riser stress joint.
