Remote closing and opening of a barrier valve

A system and method for opening and closing a barrier valve. The system may comprise a plurality of production tubing sections, a barrier valve, and an actuation module attached to the barrier valve. The method may comprise attaching an actuation module to one of one or more production tubing sections, disposing the actuation module, the barrier valve, and the one or more production tubing sections into an annulus, moving the mandrel with the first piston or the second piston, and moving a ball within the barrier valve to a closed position.

Plug with a resettable closure member

A plug with a closure member including a body defining a flow bore and a closure member seat, a closure assembly connected to the body, the assembly including a closure member, and a hold open feature to hold the closure member in an open position, the hold open being configured to release the closure member upon a selected hydrodynamic force upon the closure member.

Multi-piston activation mechanism

An actuator assembly of a downhole tool may include a high pressure chamber and a low pressure chamber. A pressure applied from the surface to the tool may enter both chambers. The low pressure chamber may include an inlet that restricts the flow of pressure and prevents the pressure within the low pressure chamber from increasing quickly. The high pressure chamber may also include an inlet that restricts the flow of pressure to prevent the pressure within the high pressure chamber from increasing quickly. The inlet of the high pressure chamber may also include a check valve that prevents pressure from bleeding off from the high pressure chamber through the check valve. The pressure within the high pressure chamber may actuate a piston to actuate the tool in response to the pressure applied from the surface falling within a predetermined pressure and time range.

Stopping fluid flow through a stuck open inflow control valve

An assembly and a method for stopping a fluid flow through a stuck open inflow control device are described. An inflow control valve includes a valve body with an inlet, an inner sleeve, and an outer sleeve, and an actuation mechanism. The inner sleeve is movably coupled to an inner surface of the valve body to control fluid flow through the valve body. The outer sleeve is coupled to an outer surface of the valve body to stop the fluid flow through the inlet when the inner sleeve is stuck open. The outer sleeve is movable from a position allowing fluid flow through the valve body to a locked position stopping fluid flow through the valve body. The actuation mechanism moves the outer sleeve from the position offset from the inlet to the locked position.

ESCAPEMENT SYSTEM FOR SHIFTING A MEMBER IN A DOWNHOLE TOOL

A downhole tool includes a tubular having an outer surface, an inner surface, a recess extending from the inner surface toward the outer surface, and an opening extending from the outer surface to the recess. A hydraulic passage extends through the tubular. The hydraulic passage includes an inlet, a first and a second branch. The second branch is fluidically exposed at the inner surface. A piston is arranged in the recess. A locking ring is arranged radially inwardly of the piston and a member is arranged in the tubular spaced from the inner surface. Application of hydraulic pressure in the first branch urges the piston radially inwardly clamping the locking ring against the member and application of hydraulic pressure in the second branch urges the member axially in a first direction relative to the tubular.
