CONTROL LINE PRESSURE CONTROLLED SAFETY VALVE EQUALIZATION
A system for controlling fluid flow in a subterranean well includes a first valve, a control line fluidly coupled to the first valve, an equalizing line disposed externally to and separate from the first valve, and at least a second valve disposed in the equalizing line and in fluid communication with the control line. The first valve includes a body defining a lumen, and an upper portion, and a lower portion. The equalizing line is in fluid communication with the lumen between the upper portion and the lower portion of the body. The second valve equalizes a pressure between the upper and lower portions of the body.
Gas Lift Valve Having Shear Open Mechanism for Pressure Testing
For gas lift, gas lift valves install on a completion in a wellbore. The gas lift valve has a pressure-sensitive valve and a check valve configured to control communication in the valve. A piston is held closed with a first connection relative to the valve's outlet exposed to tubing pressure, while the check valve is held open in the valve with a second connection. Pressure testing can be performed on the integrity of the tubing and casing by increasing the tubing and annulus pressures while the piston stays closed. The gas lift valve is then actuated for operation by increasing the tubing or annulus pressure beyond a predetermined limit of the first connection to release the piston to move open relative to the outlet. The movement of the piston releases the hold of the second connection on the check valve so the check valve can function normally as a one-way valve.
Ball valve and remotely releasable connector for drill string
A connector has an upper end for connection into the upper part of a drill string. The connector has an outer member that slides over an inner member, the outer member and the inner member having a locked position and an unlocked position. A latch assembly in the connector places the inner member and the outer member in the unlocked position in response to hydraulic fluid pressure applied to the connector. A ball valve assembly has an upper portion for connection with a lower end of the connector and a lower portion for connection into a lower part of the drill string. A ball valve element actuator in the ball valve assembly rotates a ball valve element to the closed position in response to the upper portion of the ball valve assembly moving downward relative to the lower portion of the ball valve assembly.
TUBING PRESSURE INSENSITIVE FAILSAFE WIRELINE RETRIEVABLE SAFETY VALVE
A tubing pressure insensitive failsafe wireline retrievable safety valve, borehole system having the valve and method of operation of the valve. The valve includes a tool housing, a flow tube disposed within the tool housing, an actuation piston disposed in the tool housing and operably connected to the flow tube, the actuation piston having an actuation side and a pressure side, and a fluid pathway between a potential leak site for the valve and the pressure side of the piston. A temporary sealing member is in the fluid pathway between the potential leak site and the pressure side of the piston. The method includes disposing the valve at a selected location and removing at least a portion of the temporary sealing member from the fluid pathway after landing the wireline retrievable safety valve at the selected location.
WIRELINE RETRIEVABLE FLAPPER AND SEAT
Provided is a retrievable safety valve insert, a safety valve, a well system, and a method. The retrievable safety valve insert, in one aspect, includes an outer housing including an outer housing central bore extending axially therethrough, the outer housing central bore operable to convey subsurface production fluids there through. The insert, according to this aspect, may further include a lock mandrel having a lock mandrel profile extending radially outward from the outer housing, the lock mandrel profile movable between a radially retracted state and a radially expanded state configured to engage with an end sub profile of an end sub. The insert, according to this aspect, may further include a safety valve insert closure mechanism coupled to the outer housing proximate a downhole end of the outer housing central bore, the safety valve insert closure mechanism movable between an outer housing closed state and an outer housing open state.
Annular safety valve pull through device
A safety valve with a pre-installed penetration member is disclosed. The penetration member is installed into the safety valve before installing the safety valve in the well. The penetration member is coupled to a cable which communicates with a downhole component, such as a gauge. Pulling the penetration member upward pulls the cable upward through the safety valve.
Subsurface safety valve for cable deployed electrical submersible pump
A safety valve system for a subterranean well includes a central body with a central body profile and a supporting body having a supporting profile shaped to support the central body profile. An outer diameter seal circumscribes the central body to seal between the central body and the supporting body. An inner diameter seal is located within a central bore of the central body to form a seal between the central bore of the central body and a cable that extends through the central bore. An annular fluid flow path extends through the safety valve system axially past the outer diameter seal and the inner diameter seal. A valve assembly is moveable between an open position where fluid can flow through the annular fluid flow path, and a closed position where fluid is prevented from flowing through the annular fluid flow path.
Test dart system and method
Embodiments of the present disclosure include a test dart for wellbore pressure isolation. The test dart includes a body extending from a first end to a second end, the body having a bore extending therethrough, a diameter of the bore being greater at a first end than the second end. The test dart also includes a groove formed proximate the first end and extending radially outward from the bore and into the body. Additionally, the test dart includes an anti-rotation pin positioned between the groove and the second end, the anti-rotation pin extending radially outward from the body. The test dart further includes a check valve positioned in the bore, the check valve enabling flow in a single direction and being moveable between an open position to enable the flow and a closed position to block the flow.
