Well system with degradable plug
A downhole assembly is disclosed. The downhole assembly includes a tube disposed in a wellbore, and a shroud coupled to and disposed around the circumference of the tube to form an annulus between an inner surface of the shroud and an outer surface of the tube. The downhole assembly further includes a flow control device disposed in the annulus, and a degradable plug disposed in the annulus and positioned to prevent fluid flow between the annulus and the tube.
Methods of coating a sand screen component
A method of non-line-of-sight coating of a sand screen for use in wellbores during the production of hydrocarbon fluids from subterranean formations. The coating can have uniformly coated internal and external surfaces.
Downhole apparatus
There is provided a sandscreen joint (110) capable of providing zonal isolation. The ends of the portion of the (110) are capable of extension on activation of the sandscreen (110), including transition areas (135), which are coated with an elastomer sleeve (134). On activation of the sandscreen (110), the sleeve (134) is pushed out into contact with the bore wall and serves to isolate the zone on one side of the activated sleeve (134) from the zone on the other side of the sleeve (134). Thus, the provision of the sleeve (134) on the activated sandscreen (110) may prevent fluid from flowing axially along the bore between the bore wall and sandscreen. This may serve to protect the weave at the transition area (135), preventing axial flow through the transition areas (135).
Metal-matrix downhole sand screens
A screen assembly for wellbore production wherein a base pipe is wrapped with a screen constructed one or more cables formed from a plurality of non-metallic fibers bonded to one another with a metal binder. The non-metallic fibers may be basalt fibers or another ceramic material. The metal binder forms a metal matrix that has a first diameter about a primary cable axis, with the metal matrix securing the non-metallic fibers so that they have a second diameter about the primary cable axis, where the second diameter is larger than the first diameter, minimizing exposure of the metal matrix to wellbore fluids.
Oil well tool system and apparatus
An oil well tool operable to be deployed downhole on a production string including a tubular member having a wall extending from a first end to a second end opposite the first end and the wall forming a plurality of apertures. The oil well tool also includes a mesh screen coupled to an inner surface of the wall of the tubular member and covering the plurality of apertures.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR GAS-WATER-SAND SEPARATION AND MEASUREMENT IN EXPERIMENT OF NATURAL GAS HYDRATE EXPLOITATION
A device and a method for gas-water-sand separation and measurement during a simulated exploitation of natural gas hydrates are disclosed. The device includes a natural gas hydrate formation and dissociation system and a filtering unit. The natural gas hydrate formation and dissociation system includes a compressed air pump, a reactor, and a water-bath temperature regulating unit. The filtering unit includes a kettle body, wherein an inlet end of the kettle body is connected to the sand-control liner zone, an outlet end of the kettle body is connected to a water-collecting container, and a plurality of filtering layers are disposed inside the kettle body from the inlet end to the outlet end. The method is conducted using the device. The device and the method realize the gas-water-sand separation and measurement of produced gas-water-sand mixture during a simulative exploitation process, allowing for a direct inspection on a sand production and sand control.
Divisible Experimental Device and Method for Sand Production and Sand Control during Natural Gas Hydrate Exploitation
A divisible device and a method for sand production and sand control experiment for natural gas hydrate exploitation. The experimental device includes a reactor system, a feeding system, a separation and measurement system, a water-bath jacket system, a support and safety system, and a software recording and analyzing system. In the reactor system, the reactor units can be combined in different ways depending on the experimental conditions and purposes. The reactor units include: left/right reactor units, secondary reactor units, central reactor units, and caps. The combination of a left/right reactor unit with a cap gives a hydrate formation reactor without sand control screens. Combining the left/right reactor unit, secondary left/right reactor units and central reactor units with other accessories allows the reactor system to carry out the simulation experiments with either zero, one, or two view zones, and with either one or two wells.
METHODS OF PRODUCING HYDROCARBONS FROM UNCONSOLIDATED SAND FORMATIONS
A method of drilling an uncompleted lateral wellbore in a subsurface formation includes drilling the uncompleted lateral wellbore with coiled tubing in the subsurface formation. The subsurface formation includes unconsolidated sand and the subsurface formation overlays a water-saturated reservoir. The method may further include introducing particles having an average particle size of from 8 mesh to 140 mesh into the uncompleted lateral wellbore, thereby supporting the uncompleted lateral wellbore and avoiding wellbore collapse and installing a screen in a vertical wellbore fluidly connected to the uncompleted lateral wellbore, wherein the screen has a mesh size of from 325 mesh to 1000 mesh. The subsurface formation may include hydrocarbons and the method may further include producing hydrocarbons from the subsurface formation.
Completion systems and methods to complete a well
Completion systems and methods to complete a well are disclosed. A method to complete a well includes installing a casing across a plurality of zones of a well. The casing includes an opening and a sleeve positioned inside the casing. The method also includes shifting the sleeve from a first position to a second position to uncover the opening to provide fluid communication from a zone of the plurality of zones to the casing. After shifting the sleeve from the first position to the second position, the method includes flowing a screen assembly having a filter inside the casing and toward the sleeve. The method further includes positioning the filter around the opening and sealing the screen assembly around the opening to confine fluid flow through the opening to flow through the filter.
