SAND CONTROL SCREEN ASSEMBLIES AND ASSOCIATED METHODS OF MANUFACTURING

A sand control screen assembly includes a base pipe having openings through its thickness, and a mesh layer having mesh material sections coupled to safe edges, or connectors, for connecting sections together. The safe edges include areas of thinning to provide flex joints that yield when exposed to high stresses. The mesh layer may be a drainage layer or a filter medium of the sand control screen assembly.

Degradable plug for a downhole tubular

An apparatus and related method of assembling a degradable plug adapted to selectively permit fluid communication through a flow path of a downhole tubular. In an exemplary embodiment, the method includes providing a housing defining an internal flow passage and one or more internal annular grooves adjoining the internal flow passage; positioning a generally cylindrical core within the internal flow passage; applying a first axially compressive force against the core so that respective exterior portions of the core expand or flow into the one or more internal annular grooves of the housing and the housing elastically deforms in a radially outward direction; and removing the first axially compressive force from the core so that the housing recoils in a radially inward direction, which is opposite the radially outward direction, thus placing a first stress on the core.

WAVE GENERATING SYSTEM

A wave generating system for generating a standing wave is provided, which includes: a wave generating structure having a manipulable portion for adjusting a characteristic of the standing wave; a water supply which supplies a primary flow of water towards the wave generating structure; and a return circuit for redirecting at least some water from a location downstream of the wave generating structure back to the wave generating structure to assist in forming the standing wave.

Shunt system for downhole sand control completions

A downhole sand control completion system includes a completion string extendable within a wellbore and including one or more sand control screen assemblies arranged about a base pipe, each sand control screen assembly including one or more sand screens positioned about the base pipe. A shunt system is positioned about an exterior of the base pipe to receive and redirect a gravel slurry flowing in an annulus defined between the completion string and a wellbore wall. A return tube is positioned about the exterior of the base pipe and extends longitudinally along a portion of the completion string. The return tube defines a plurality of openings to receive a portion of a fluid in the annulus into the return tube to be conveyed into an interior of the base pipe via the return tube.

MATERIAL MESH FOR SCREENING FINES

A tubular for reservoir fines control includes a body having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a flow path. A plurality of openings is formed in the body connecting the outer surface and the flow path. A pre-formed member including a material mesh is overlaid onto the outer surface. The material mesh is formed from a material swellable upon exposure to a selected fluid. The material mesh has a selected porosity allowing methane to pass into the flow path while preventing passage of fines.

Method of using a screen containing a composite for release of well treatment agent into a well

The rate of release of a well treatment agent into a well may be controlled by introducing into the well a screen containing a well treatment composite having a well treatment agent and a support for the well treatment agent. The diameter of the substrate is less than the diameter of the opening of the screen of the screen assembly. Over time, the well treatment agent is released from the substrate and passes from the interior of the screen into the well.

OIL WELL TOOL SYSTEM AND APPARATUS

An oil well tool operable to be deployed downhole on a production string including a tubular member having a wall extending from a first end to a second end opposite the first end and the wall forming a plurality of apertures. The oil well tool also includes a mesh screen coupled to an inner surface of the wall of the tubular member and covering the plurality of apertures.

Methods and apparatuses for controlling fines migration in a wellbore

A method of controlling fines migration in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, the method comprising: introducing into the wellbore a screen mesh in an unexpanded form disposed of a first tubular member having a body with apertures, the screen mesh comprising a degradable material; expanding the screen mesh; injecting a cement slurry into the wellbore to fill open spaces within the expanded screen mesh; allowing the cement slurry to set forming a set cement that reduces or substantially preventing the passage of formation particles from migrating from the subterranean formation into the wellbore; and removing the degradable material of the screen mesh forming a fluid pathway in the set cement, which allows a formation fluid to flow from the subterranean formation into the wellbore.

Protective shrouds for sand control screen assemblies
10781672 · 2020-09-22 · ·

A sand control screen assembly having a protective shroud or jacket that provides a controlled offset between the shroud and a filter medium. The sand control screen assembly also includes a base pipe having a drainage layer positioned therearound for preventing the flow of particulate material of a predetermined size therethrough and allowing the flow of production fluids therethrough.
