A gravel pack assembly for a borehole has first and second joints and a foil. The basepipes of the joints connect end-to-end, and both of the basepipes having filters for filtering fluid passage from a borehole into bores of the basepipes. Transport tubes are disposed along the first and second joint, and a jumper tube expands across the connected ends of the basepipes and connects the transport tubes together. The foil encloses an area across the connected ends. The foil has an external surface defining an annulus thereabout with the borehole. The foil has end rings abutting the filters of the joints. At least a section of the foil leaks fluid from the borehole to the area enclosed by the foil, and at least a filter portion of the assembly filters the leaked fluid from the area to at least one of the first and second bores.

A method and apparatus for installing an object in a flow line or other compartment, such as a surface inline filter assembly having a removable screen filter apparatus. A housing has a central through bore and an elongate slot or opening with a cover that can be selectively opened or locked in a closed position when desired. A filter apparatus can be loaded within the assembly, and shifted into a locked position within the central bore of the housing. When removal of the filter apparatus is desired, the cover can be unlocked and opened, and the filter apparatus can be quickly and efficiently removed, cleaned and/or replaced.

System and methodology for controlling fluid flow

A technique facilitates formation of a gravel pack. A well completion is provided to facilitate improved gravel packing during a gravel packing operation and subsequent production. The well completion is constructed to freely return a gravel pack carrier fluid through a base pipe during gravel packing. A valve system is positioned to enable restriction of fluid flow into the base pipe following the gravel packing operation. The valve system may be selectively actuated to restrict the fluid flow into the base pipe via a signal such as a pressure signal or timed electric signal.

A lower completion assembly made up of an upper sand screen assembly and a lower sand screen assembly. Each sand screen assembly includes a shunt system. Each shunt system includes a transport tube and a packing tube extending from a junction block. Each packing tube includes a plurality of nozzles spaced apart from the junction block and from each other. The shunt system of the upper sand screen assembly has a higher pressure rating than the shunt system of the lower sand screen assembly. The wall thickness of the transport tubes of the upper sand screen assembly shunt system is greater than the wall thickness of the transport tubes of the lower sand screen assembly shunt system.

A technique facilitates filtration of solids from a well fluid to during a pumping operation. The system may comprise a downhole pump, e.g. a downhole rod lift pump, having a pump housing through which a well fluid is moved during pumping of the well fluid. The pump housing is configured to receive a filter assembly which filters solids from the well fluid during pumping. The filter assembly may comprise a strainer having a filter section and a strainer bushing affixed to the filter section. The filter section may have a plurality of filter holes sized to aid in the filtration of solids. The filter assembly also may comprise a mechanical hold down having an interior sized to receive the filter section. An external bushing is secured to the mechanical hold down in a manner which holds the filter section within the mechanical hold down.

A device and method for collecting sample fluids from an underground source which includes sample wells terminating in a corrugated conduit and sieve. The sampling regions for each sample well is separated by a grout or expanding seal barrier. Negative pressure is optionally applied to extract fluids from the underground matrix for sampling. The device can also be used for remediating an environmental contaminant from soil or aquifers. Upon identification of at least one environmental contaminant, a remediation composition is injected into the soil or aquifer using the sampling wells of the device. The remediation fluids can be directed to specific locations by selectively utilizing one or more sampling wells to inject the remediation fluid.

COMPLIANT SCREEN SHROUD TO LIMIT EXPANSION

Compliant wellbores screens may be arranged to radially expand in a wellbore. The screens include an outer shroud layer including a perforation pattern thereon arranged for limiting the degree to which the screens are expand. The perforation patterns may permit the screens to be expanded to a predetermined limit by imparting a stable or relatively low expansion force. Once the predetermined limit is reached, the outer shrouds may require a sharp increase in the expansion force for further expansion. The sharp increase will prevent over-expansion of the screens, particularly where precise control over an expansion force imparted to expand the screens proves difficult. The perforation pattern may include arc-shaped perforations formed in sheet metal, spaces between braided metal strands, or many other arrangements.
