LASER GRAVITY HEATING
A method to produce in-situ steam comprising the steps of producing a laser beam in a steam generator segment positioned in a wellbore in a formation; introducing the laser beam to an activated carbon container, where the activated carbon container comprises activated carbon; increasing a temperature of the activated carbon with the laser beam to produce a hot activated carbon; introducing water to the activated carbon container through a water supply line; producing steam in the activated carbon container when the water contacts the hot activated carbon; increasing pressure in the activated carbon container as steam is produced until a pressure set point of an inter-container valve is reached; releasing steam through the inter-container valve to a steam container; increasing a pressure in the steam container until a release set point of one or more release valves is reached; and releasing steam through the release valve to the formation.

Assembly for supporting cables in deployed tubing
An assembly for supporting one or more cables in coiled tubing deployed in a well is described. The assembly includes a receptacle connected to an upper opening of the coiled tubing. A receptacle clamp is connected to the receptacle to provide a circumferential lateral extension surface. A separate extension column having a base portion is supported on the lateral extension surface. The extension column has an upper platform surface separated vertically from the base portion. A cable clamp is supported on the upper platform surface and configured to reversibly grip the one or more cables. The assembly is useful for any process requiring support of cables in coiled tubing deployed in a well, such as a process for assembling a heater for providing underground heat.
Method for recovering hydrocarbons from a wellbore using a conducting element with winding transformer
A method of improving natural gas recovery from a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir includes at least one renewable energy source that is electrically coupled with a heat conducting element. The heat conducting element is positioned in a perforated section of a wellbore that traverses into the subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir. A temperature of the subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir is maintained above a cricondentherm temperature so that liquid condensation may be prevented at a final production time. In order to maintain the temperature within a required temperature range, an internal temperature, an internal pressure, and a set of reservoir properties are monitored and then utilized to plot a phase diagram that can be used to detect liquid condensation. If liquid condensation is detected, an electrical output of the renewable energy source is adjusted in order to control the temperature of the subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir at a producing end of a production tubing.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING ELECTROMAGNETIC HEATING OF A HYDROCARBON MEDIUM
Systems and methods for controlling heating of a hydrocarbon medium using a signal generator and a load having frequency and time dependent impedance. A desired heating life cycle is determined. A current state is determined using a model of the medium and the load. A desired operational state is determined from the current operational state and the desired heating life cycle. The desired operational state is selected to maximize a fit between the desired operational state and the desired heating life cycle. Desired signal generator control settings are determined for the signal generator in order to achieve the desired operational state. An output signal is generated using the signal generator by applying the at least one desired signal generator control setting to the signal generator. The output signal is defined to excite the load and thereby heat the hydrocarbon medium.
Method and system for subsurface resource production
A means to generate increasing geological permeability to produce greater volumes of various subsurface geological resources when compared to the current conventional production methods is disclosed. The means include a Pulsed Power Plasma Emitter System capable of substantially increasing the available electrical energy for use in high power compression surge currents that can be discharged and transmitted to power a simplified downhole Plasma Emitter Tool subsystem. The simplified downhole Plasma Emitter Tool sub-system is capable of generating a broad range of precisely controlled magnetohydrodynamic plasma spark discharges that produce a broad range of high power electromagnetic, acoustic and hydrodynamic surge waves. These powerful surge waves are generated at energy and power levels that are necessary to physically modify all types of geological formation permeability and to energize the mobilization of various subsurface fluids and fluidized resources.
Radiofrequency pump inlet electric heater
The present invention reduces viscosity of highly viscous materials before entering a pump inlet by applying radio-frequency heating to the volume of material in a cage of rods that serve as electrodes surrounding a perforated inlet conduit. Applications include heavy hydrocarbonaceous materials such as tar and pitch in reservoirs, and sludge accumulating within oil storage tanks, ships, and barges. A mixer can be added to aid the process.

An electrical tool for well stimulation includes a first electrode and a second electrode. The second electrode being at the level of a first segment and a second segment of the tool. A peripheral electrode insulated electrically from the first electrode. The first segment and the second segment are linked by an articulated link inside which is arranged a coaxial cable running from the first segment to the second segment. The coaxial cable includes an electrically conducting outer envelope insulated electrically from an electrically conducting central core. The tool includes a first electrical contact between the central core of the coaxial cable and the first electrode, and a second electrical contact between the outer envelope of the coaxial cable and the second electrode.
DOWNHOLE INDUCTION HEATER AND COUPLING SYSTEM FOR OIL AND GAS WELLS
Described herein are methods and system that use electromagnetic heating to heat wellbores and the fluids therein. The heating is achieved by placing one or more permanent magnets in the wellbore and moving a metallic component and/or the one or more permanent magnets relative to each other. This generates eddy currents in the metallic component, which heat the metallic component. This heat is transferred to the fluids in the wellbore from the metallic component by convection. In some embodiments, permanent magnets are installed in the tubing to induce eddy current heating in a well by converting the linear motion of a sucker rod to rotary motion of a conducting tube using a lead or ball screw. The heater may directly integrate with existing pump jack equipment with little or no additional infrastructure required.
DOWNHOLE HEATER
A downhole heating apparatus may include a gas separator, a downhole heater, and a thermal barrier. The thermal barrier may retard fluid and heat from flowing between a lower annulus of a wellbore and an upper annulus of a wellbore. The thermal barrier may be formed from one or more thermal barrier subcomponents. The downhole heater may be an electrical heater. The thermal barrier may include one or more vents allowing fluid communication between the lower annulus and upper annulus of the wellbore.
