Artificial lift
A stator assembly for a downhole-type well tool includes a stator housing including an internal chamber, an electric stator, a flow channel in the stator housing, and a heat exchanger. The electrical stator is disposed within the stator housing and in contact with the heat exchanger, the electrical stator to drive a rotor. The flow channel in the stator housing includes an inlet and an outlet, and the heat exchanger includes a first heat exchanger portion in contact with the electric stator in the internal chamber and a second heat exchanger portion at least partially disposed in the flow channel. The flow channel flows coolant fluid along the second heat exchanger portion to transmit heat across the heat exchanger from the electric stator to the coolant fluid.
Telemetry system and method for cooling downhole electronics
The present invention provides a system for monitoring wells and a method for powering the means used to cool heat-generating devices. A telemetry system includes surface and downhole units and an alternating voltage source. A low pass filter is installed in the surface unit. A switching device is installed in the surface unit and configured to change the polarity of the voltage. A transformer is installed in the downhole unit, through the primary winding of which low-pass filtering is performed, and the secondary winding sets an independent phase. Thermoelectric coolers are installed in the downhole unit. The thermoelectric coolers receive power from the source of alternating voltage through a neutral of a set-up transformer and a radial motor and the independent phase of the transformer of the downhole unit.
Encapsulation of downhole microelectronics and method the same
A method of encapsulating an electronic assembly comprises disposing a plurality of electrically non-conductive particles on a substrate which carries one or more components of the electronic assembly; introducing a reactive parylene monomer in a vapor form into interstitial spaces among the plurality of the electrically non-conductive particles; and forming a parylene binder in the interstitial spaces of the electrically non-conductive particles from the reactive parylene monomer.
Arrayed distributed acoustic sensing using single-photon detectors
In some embodiments, a method and apparatus, as well as an article, may operate to determine downhole properties based on detected optical signals. An optical detection system can include a fiber optic cable having a sensing location to generate a backscattered Rayleigh signal representative of measurement parameters. The optical detection system can further include a light source to transmit a measurement signal to cause the sensing location to provide the backscattered Rayleigh signal. The optical detection system can further include an optical detector comprising a single-photon detector (SPD) for detecting the backscattered Rayleigh signal received over the fiber optic cable. The optical detection system can further include circuitry to produce an acoustic signal representative of a downhole property based on the phase of the backscattered Rayleigh signal. Additional apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed.
Thermal regulation and vibration isolation system
A system configured to provide thermal regulation and vibration isolation to one or more electronic components. The system includes a sensor chassis defining an interior chamber, an electronics housing in the interior chamber of the sensor chassis, a thermoelectric cooler coupled between the sensor chassis and the electronics housing, a thermal strap coupled to the sensor chassis, and at least one isolator coupled to the sensor chassis. The system may also include an insulating material, such as Aerogel, in the interior chamber of the sensor chassis and extending around the electronics housing.

Downhole drilling system
A downhole drilling system for reducing effects of overheating comprises a drill string having one or more drill pipes interconnected therebetween, a bottom hole assembly (BHA) connected to a distal end of the drill string, and a controller. The BHA comprises a drill bit disposed at an end portion of the BHA, a downhole motor to rotate the drill bit, a drill collar, in which a centrally disposed passage is formed and drilling mud is supplied to the drill bit through the centrally disposed passage, a measurement instrument disposed in the drill collar to obtain drilling environmental profile and communicating with the controller, and a cooling sub disposed in or on the drill collar or the measurement instrument.
DOWNHOLE TOOL
A downhole tool, for removing sections of metal tubing, said downhole tool comprising at least one conductive element being arranged to corrode a section of metal tubing using an electrolytic process, said conductive element being made of electric conductive material, an apparatus to establish a connection to the metal tubing, and a source of electrical power.
Multi chip module housing mounting in MWD, LWD and wireline downhole tool assemblies
An apparatus for protecting an electronics module used in a borehole includes a borehole string section having at least one pocket is formed and a mount associated with the at least one pocket. The mount may include a housing, a lid, a biasing member, and a securing member. The housing receives the electronics module and is seated on a seating surface, which may be formed on the at least one pocket or the mount. The lid encloses the housing within the at least one pocket. The biasing member is in operative contact with the housing. The securing member secures the lid within the at least one pocket and compresses the lid, the housing and the biasing member in the pocket. The biasing member responsively urges the housing against the seating surface and the housing hermetically seals the electronic module.
