Method and apparatus for performing a peripheral nerve block
A system for infusing medication into a mammalian subject is provided. The system includes an injection system for controlling a flow of fluid from a fluid reservoir to a needle. A sensor is provided that detects a characteristic indicative of the fluid pressure in the needle. The injection system controls the flow of fluid to the needle in response to the characteristic detected by the sensor and the sensor continuously detects the characteristic as the needle is inserted into the subject. The system further includes a conductive element for providing electric nerve stimulation, wherein the system provides electric nerve stimulation in response to the sensor detecting a pressure exceeding an upper limit.
TACTILE SENSING AND GUIDANCE SYSTEM
Provided are systems and methods for tactile sensing of a target tissue region of a patient in need thereof.
METHOD FOR DETERMINING LOCATION OF TARGET OF BODY
The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method which comprises a first step of obtaining an image data of the body portion from an ultrasound probe; a second step of analyzing the image data by use of machine learning and identifying a target and an evasion object; and a third step of determining the location of a final target, with reference to the information of the identified target and the evasion object. The final target is determined by at least one of a first information relating to the size of the target, a second information relating to the depth of the target, and a third information relating to the existence of an object in the straight path between the target and skin surface.
Device and method for automated emergency arterial sheath placement
Disclosed are devices and methods for automated emergency arterial cannulation. The device comprises a hand-held automated emergency arterial sheath placement device having a body with a handle and an actuator, and an arterial sheath placement head at the distal end of the handle body configured for placement against the patient's skin. The arterial sheath placement head includes an arterial sheath insertion device configured to advance an arterial needle, guide wire, and arterial sheath into a patient's artery upon sequential operation of the actuator. The arterial sheath placement head also includes a non-invasive artery locator configured to locate an artery into which the arterial sheath is intended to be placed. The arterial sheath placement head also preferably includes a Doppler gel and antiseptic needle, a local anesthetic needle, and a scalpel, all of which are likewise configured to advance from the upper body portion upon sequential operation of the actuator.
Apparatus and methods for closing vessels
Apparatus and methods are provided for closing a tubular structure within a patient's body. The apparatus includes a needle including a proximal end including a hub, a distal end including a sharpened distal tip, a lumen having an oblong cross-section extending proximally from the distal end, and defining a longitudinal axis between the proximal and distal ends, and a clip deliverable from the lumen. The clip is compressible between a relaxed state in which a plurality of tines of the clip are shaped to engage and close a tubular structure within a patient's body, and a stressed state in which the tines are compressed to allow the clip to be loaded into the. The apparatus may also include a pusher member for deploying the clip from the distal tip of the needle such that the tines engage and close a tubular structure through which the tubular member is directed.
Treating benign prostatic hyperplasia
Minimally invasive treatment methods for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) tissue. A system includes a sustained release formulation comprising a cytostatic or cytotoxic drug, and an applicator or delivery system for local delivery of a composition comprising or consisting essentially of the sustained release formulation to the prostate. The applicator containing the composition is characterized by a KIR value of between 40 and 400 Centipoise per unit area.
Portable hand-held vein-image-enhancing device
It is known in the art to use an apparatus to enhance the visual appearance of the veins and arteries in a patient to facilitate insertion of needles into those veins and arteries. This application discloses a number of inventions that add additional data collection and presentation capabilities to a handheld vein enhancement apparatus and a set of processes for the collection of blood and the delivery of IV medicines that use the handheld device to mediate the process.
Needle electrode for position-dependent injection
A device includes a syringe, which has a tip, plunger, and barrel containing a fluid. The device also includes a needle electrode coupled to the tip of the syringe, a release component, and a control component configured to receive electrical measurements made by the needle electrode, determine impedance values from the electrical measurements, and identify a target tissue based on the impedance values. In response to the identification, the control component generates instructions to reposition a release component. A method includes receiving electrical measurements from a needle electrode, determining impedance values based on the electrical measurements. A target tissue is identified based on the impedance values, and a release component is repositioned in response. An article of manufacture includes a needle electrode and a microprocessor configured to receive electrical measurements, determine impedance values, identify a target tissue based on the impedance values, and generate instructions to reposition a release component.
Device for Detecting and Illuminating the Vasculature Using an FPGA
A laser based vascular illumination system utilizing a FPGA for detecting vascular positions, processing an image of such vasculature positions, and projecting the image thereof onto the body of a patient.
GUIDE DEVICE FOR INJECTION NEEDLE PUNCTURE
Provided is a guide device for injection needle puncture. The guide device for needle puncture according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a body; a guide part which has a guide hole provided therein so as to be tilted at a certain angle along the height direction, the guide hole allowing an injection needle to pass therethrough so that during injection needle puncture, the insertion angle of the injection needle can be constantly maintained; and a sliding member which is coupled to the body so as to be slidingly movable, wherein the spaced distance between the guide hole and a medical ultrasound apparatus is adjusted through relative movement of the body or the sliding member so that a target location into which the distal end of the injection needle is inserted can be located on entrance path of the injection needle.
