Vehicle to reclaim milled road surface aggregate for reuse as a road surface

There is provided a three vehicle train for the continuous cold in-place recycling of asphalt road surface, the train comprising a first supply vehicle containing both water and asphalt emulsion that is in fluid communication with the remaining vehicles; a second milling vehicle for removing a portion of the topmost layer of the road surface as aggregate and evacuating the aggregate via a system of conveyors to a third vehicle; and a third processing vehicle for screening the aggregate to a proper size, mixing the aggregate with cement, water, and/or asphalt emulsion under computer control into a slurry, and depositing the resulting slurry onto the previously milled asphalt road surface.

CONTINUOUS ASPHALT MIXTURE PRODUCTION PLANT BASED ON DOUBLE-HORIZONTAL-SHAFT FORCED MIXING

A continuous asphalt mixture production plant based on double-horizontal-shaft forced mixing includes a cold aggregate bin, a continuous aggregate conveying and metering system, a drying drum, an aggregate elevator, a double-horizontal-shaft continuous mixing host, a continuous asphalt metering and conveying system, a continuous powder conveying and metering system and a finished product bin. The double-horizontal-shaft continuous mixing host includes a first double-horizontal-shaft mixing cylinder and a second double-horizontal-shaft mixing cylinder connected in series. The first double-horizontal-shaft mixing cylinder is provided with an aggregate inlet, an asphalt inlet, a powder inlet and a first discharging port, and the second double-horizontal-shaft mixing cylinder is provided with a mixture inlet and a second discharging port. The aggregate inlet, the asphalt inlet and the powder inlet are respectively connected with an outlet of the aggregate elevator, the continuous asphalt metering and conveying system and the continuous powder conveying and metering system correspondingly.

MATERIAL HANDLING SYSTEM

A material handling system for a work machine includes a receptacle, an auger assembly, a conveyor system, and a material feed sensor configured to monitor an amount of the paving material. The material handling system further includes a controller configured to transmit, if a speed of the auger assembly and/or the conveyor system is not within a predetermined speed range and/or the amount of the paving material being directed towards the work surface is outside of a predetermined amount range, at least one of a control signal to the auger assembly and/or the conveyor system for adjusting the speed of the auger assembly and/or the conveyor system such that the speed of the auger assembly and/or the conveyor system lies within the predetermined speed range, and an alert notification to a user of the work machine to reposition the material feed sensor.

Asphalt concrete having a high recycled content and method of making the same

A method of making asphalt concrete mixtures including reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). Variability in the fraction of binder that occurs in RAP that is able to melt and mix with virgin binder included in the concrete mixture previously made it difficult to select an appropriate amount of virgin binder. Methods described herein permit an asphalt concrete mix designer to determine the amount of virgin binder that can be combined with RAP and virgin aggregate in order to satisfy the minimum effective binder content of a job mix formula for such a concrete mix. The subject matter described herein thus permits more efficient use of RAP and permits use of RAP in higher amounts in asphalt concrete mixtures.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FILLING POTHOLES WITH LIQUID POTHOLE FILLER

A pothole filling method and apparatus with a separate liquid asphalt tank, aggregate hopper, and activator container, and having and using one or more of the following features: 1. Compressed air to deliver the liquid asphalt component from the liquid asphalt tank to the mixing head; 2. A swivel between extender delivery conduits, with an internal sleeve for guiding aggregate and protecting the swivel bearings; 3. A water cleaning system being switchable between a clean out line connected directly to a mixing/delivery unit or to the liquid asphalt delivery line, which cleans the delivery line as well as the mixing/delivery unit; 4. A mixer/delivery unit clean out is provided, wherein the unit is operated at increased speed a short time after the unit stops operating; 5. Compressed air bubbler or an air driven stirrer for mixing the liquid component. 6. A generally vertically oriented funnel shaped activator holder with a generally vertically oriented motorized auger extending to a delivery tube, to deliver activator to a mixing/delivery unit.

A system for controlling the production of an asphalt mix. The preferred system comprises an asphaltic material source, an asphaltic material sensor, a liquid asphalt cement source, a liquid asphalt cement meter, and a controller. The asphaltic material sensor communicates the amount of asphaltic material liquid asphalt cement and the amount of asphaltic material moisture contained in the amount of asphaltic material to the controller, the liquid asphalt cement meter communicates the amount of liquid asphalt cement provided by the liquid asphalt cement source to the controller, and the controller controls the amount of asphaltic material provided by the asphaltic material source and the amount of the liquid asphalt cement provided by the liquid asphalt cement source. A method comprising controlling the amount of asphaltic material and the amount of liquid asphalt cement provided to the asphalt mix substantially continuously and substantially in real time.
