METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SPREADING CHIPS ON ROADWAY
A modified chip spreader is adapted to be used in a chip sealing train including a chip supply dump truck and an asphalt composition supply truck. The modified chip spreader is a self-propelled vehicle that has a receiving hopper on its front end for receiving stone chips from the chip supply dump truck, a spreader assembly on its rear end and a conveyor assembly for conveying the stone chips from the receiving hopper to the spreader assembly. The modified chip spreader also includes a spray assembly that is in fluid communication with an outlet line from the asphalt composition supply truck, which spray assembly is adapted to dispense an asphalt composition onto the surface of a roadway in front of the spreader assembly. The spreader assembly dispenses the stone chips onto the newly applied asphalt composition on the surface of the roadway.
Asphalt paving machine operational reporting system
An asphalt paving machine includes a drive system, an asphalt receiving hopper and a distributing auger. A hopper conveyor, which is adapted to transport asphalt paving material from the receiving hopper to the distributing auger, includes a hopper conveyor motor and a speed sensor. A vertically-adjustable flow gate defines the size of the gate opening from the asphalt receiving hopper to the distributing auger, and a flow gate position sensor is adapted to determine the vertical position of the flow gate. A controller includes a timer and is operatively connected to the drive system for the paving machine, the speed sensor for the hopper conveyor motor and the flow gate position sensor. The controller uses a machine speed signal, a conveyor speed signal and a flow gate signal to measure the amount of asphalt paving material delivered to the distributing auger per unit of time.
Method and apparatus for spreading chips on roadway using foamed asphalt cement
A chip sealing train for use in carrying out a chip sealing operation on a roadway using foamed asphalt cement includes a chip supply dump truck, an asphalt cement supply truck and a chip spreader. The chip spreader includes a receiving hopper for receiving stone chips from the raised dump bed of the chip supply dump truck and a spreader assembly which is adapted to dispense the stone chips onto the roadway. The chip sealing train includes a water tank and a foam dispersal assembly. The foam dispersal assembly includes a foaming chamber, an asphalt cement supply line that is in fluid communication with the asphalt cement supply truck and the foaming chamber, and an asphalt cement pump for pumping asphalt cement from the asphalt cement supply tank into the foaming chamber. The foam dispersal assembly also includes a water supply line that is in fluid communication with the water tank and the foaming chamber, and a water pump for pumping water from the water tank into the foaming chamber. A spray bar is adapted to dispense foamed asphalt cement from the foaming chamber onto the surface of the roadway in front of the spreader assembly.
AUGER AND CONVEYOR SPEED CONTROL
A paving system includes a paving machine including a drive assembly, a paving material delivery system, and a material depth sensor. The paving material delivery system includes a hopper, a conveyor assembly, an auger, and a screed. The material depth sensor is configured to detect a head of paving material in front of the screed. The paving machine further includes a controller in communication with the material depth sensor. The controller is configured to receive a feed sensor signal from the material depth sensor, receive an auger speed signal indicative of a speed of the auger, and adjust a conveyor speed based on at least one of the feed sensor signal and the auger speed signal.
ASPHALT PAVING MACHINE OPERATIONAL REPORTING SYSTEM
An asphalt paving machine includes a drive system that is operated to move the paving machine across a surface to be paved, an asphalt receiving hopper which is adapted to receive asphalt paving material and a distributing auger. A hopper conveyor, which is adapted to transport the asphalt paving material from the asphalt receiving hopper to the distributing auger, includes a hopper conveyor motor and a speed sensor that is associated with the hopper conveyor motor. A vertically-adjustable flow gate that is associated with the hopper conveyor defines the size of the gate opening from the asphalt receiving hopper to the distributing auger, and a flow gate position sensor is adapted to determine the vertical position of the flow gate. A controller includes a timer and is operatively connected to the drive system for moving the paving machine, to the speed sensor for the hopper conveyor motor and to the flow gate position sensor. The controller uses a machine speed signal, a conveyor speed signal and a flow gate signal to measure the amount of asphalt paving material delivered to the distributing auger per unit of time.
Material spreading systems and methods
A material spreading system including a spreader and a tote, and related methods, are disclosed. The spreader may include a frame attachable to a loading machine such as a skid loader, an inlet for receiving a material, one or more connector members, and a discharge mechanism configured to selectively discharge the material onto the ground. The tote may include a container for storing the material and one or more connector members. The connector members of the tote may be configured to matingly engage the connector members of the spreader such that an opening in the container aligns with the inlet of the spreader. Accordingly, the material in the container may be transferred from the container to the spreader. Furthermore, the material spreading system may be used in various application including those involving the spread of granular and/or liquid de-icing material over the ground.
SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR STORING AND SPREADING A MATERIAL
A material spreading system may include a tote and a spreader attachable to a loading machine. The spreader may include a frame, an inlet, a lift arm, and a discharge mechanism configured to selectively discharge the material onto the ground. The tote may include a container having a plurality of walls enclosing an internal volume for storing a material. An opening may be formed in one of the plurality of walls and communicate with the internal volume. The tote may additionally include a lift arm engaging surface configured to engage the lift arm and permit the lift arm to manipulate the tote. The tote may also include a closure member at least partially covering the opening and configured to selectively permit transfer of the material from the container to the inlet of the spreader in response to the material exerting a force on the closure member.
Spreader for Spreading Spreadable Material and Spreading Chute
A chute for spreadable material for guiding spreadable material in the direction of a spreading disk of a spreader, having several guide surfaces which extend from a supply region for the spreadable material in the direction of the spreading disk.
Gravel spreader
The gravel spreader includes a hopper with a pair of longitudinally opposed sidewalls, a pair of laterally opposed sidewalls, an open upper end and an open lower end. A pair of longitudinally-extending runners are respectively mounted on lower ends of the pair of laterally opposed sidewalls. In use, the gravel spreader is transported to a site for spreading of gravel by being releasably carried by a bucket of a tractor or the like. The gravel spreader is placed on a ground surface of the site for the spreading of the gravel and the bucket of the tractor is disengaged from the gravel spreader. The hopper is at least partially filled with the gravel to be spread and the gravel spreader is pulled over the ground surface using the bucket of the tractor, with the pair of longitudinally-extending runners sliding on the ground surface.
