Real-time laser measurement and marking apparatus
A real-time measurement and marking apparatus is provided. The disclosure providing a portable marking device comprising: a housing including a main housing structure and a can cover, the main housing structure having a front open end, a rear nozzle end, a top surface, a bottom surface, and a pair of opposing side walls, wherein at least one of the side walls defines an aperture, the can cover having a rear open end, a front closed end, the can cover extending at the rear open end to selectively engage with the aperture defined by at least one of the side walls releasably securing a spray can within the housing; a nozzle member positioned at the rear nozzle end of the of the main housing structure; an optical measuring apparatus for real-time measuring of a distance between a point of focus and the portable marking device activated by one or more buttons.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CALCULATING THICKNESS OF MARKING MATERIAL APPLIED TO A ROADWAY SURFACE
A system and method (i.e., utilities) for calculating, in substantially real-time, the thickness of marking materials applied to roadway surfaces. The utilities utilize a linear position sensor to monitor positions of a shaft of a positive displacement paint pump. By monitoring the shaft position multiple times per stroke of the pump, pump displacement volumes may be calculated for intra-stroke movements of the pump. The pump displacement volumes permit calculating applied thickness of the marking materials in finer temporal increments than was previously possible.
Methods, materials and apparatus for mobile additive manufacturing of advanced structures and roadways
The present disclosure provides various aspects for mobile and automated processing utilizing additive manufacturing and the methods for their utilization. In some examples, discrete material formats for use in an Additive Manufacturing Array are disclosed. Methods of using the additive manufacturing robot, discrete materials, and the roadways produced with the additive manufacturing robot are provided. A combined function Addibot, with Additive Manufacturing capabilities, cleaning capabilities, line painting capabilities and seal coating capabilities which may be used in concert with a camera equipped aerial drone for design and characterization function is described.
Spray control system for line striper sprayer
A line striper having a spray control system includes a spray gun, a lever, first and second cables, a manual actuator, and an assisted control. The lever is configured to move between a spray position and an inactive position. The first cable is mechanically linked to the lever. The manual control is mechanically linked to the first cable and configured to pull the first cable rearward to move the lever into the spray position. The second cable is mechanically linked to the lever. The assisted control is configured to pull the second cable rearward to move the lever into the spray position. The lever is independently moveable relative to the first and second cables such that movement of the lever caused by the first cable does not compress the second cable and movement of the lever caused by the second cable does not compress the first cable.
Device for melting and applying thermoplastic material to surface
A pavement striping devices for heating and applying thermoplastic material to a road surface is provided. The pavement striping device includes of: a hopper for holding a supply of particulate thermoplastic marking material in a non-molten state, an air or oil-heat transfer medium melting kettle having a series of coaxial conveyored or unconveyored conduits within, a plastic extruder for transporting the thermoplastic particulate from the hopper to the series of coaxial conveyored or unconveyored conduits with the air or oil-heat transfer medium melting kettle, a heating mechanism for heating the air or oil-heat transfer medium melting kettle and the plastic extruder to a temperature suitable for melting thermoplastic, and a means for driving the stream of molten thermoplastic through the series of coaxial conveyored or unconveyored conduits to a sprayer or extrusion die, all of which form a means by which the molten thermoplastic is directed to the pavement surface.
AUTOMATIC ROAD MARKING SYSTEM
An automatic road marking system including a pilot vehicle provided with a first GPS module, cameras, a tank and a control unit with wireless transmitter and an automatic guided vehicle (AGV). The AGV has a motor and a steering system, a second GPS module, spray nozzles, a hydraulic circuit, and an electronic control unit (ECU) with a receiver coupled with the transmitter of the control unit of the pilot vehicle. The system also includes a third GPS module suitable for being disposed in a fixed position in the proximity of the carriageway or on the carriage way where the road markings are to be made.
Encoded road striping for autonomous vehicles
An autonomous vehicle (AV) can process a live sensor view to autonomously operate acceleration, braking, and steering systems of the AV along a given route. While traveling along the given route, the AV can identify an encoded road stripe in the live sensor view, and decode the encoded road stripe to determine location data corresponding to the encoded road stripe.
Ground striper pump piston having dual checks
A pump for a striping machine includes dual check valves within its piston. At least one of the dual check valves is closed during an upstroke of the piston, thereby ensuring that the pump drives fluid during both its upstroke and its downstroke to maintain a desired ratio between a fluid output by the pump and a material solution output by another pump of the striping machine.
RAISED PAVEMENT MARKER DETECTOR
A raised pavement marker detector on a paint truck to detect the interruption of line striping for raised pavement markers, including a housing attached by a bracket to a carriage of the truck. The housing includes a rear shaped body having a first plurality of openings extending therethrough. Each of the first plurality of openings contains a retro reflector sensor and each sensor has a housing containing a transmitter and a receiver. A rear cover closes the first plurality of openings through the rear shaped body to protect the sensors. A front body contains a second plurality of openings extending therethrough and mounted to the rear shaped body whereby the second plurality of openings extending through the front body overlaps the first plurality of openings through the rear rectangular shaped body so as to receive a lens portion of each retro reflector sensor within the first plurality of openings.
