An emergency vehicle foldable barrier assembly for protecting law enforcement, emergency workers, and others near vehicles pulled over on the road shoulder includes a rear barrier apparatus and a side barrier apparatus. The rear barrier apparatus comprises a rear mounting plate and a rear hinge configured to mount to a trunk end of an emergency vehicle adjacent a driver's side. A rear barrier bar is coupled to the rear hinge and has a curved portion configured to conform to the curvature of the trunk end. A plurality of rear lights is coupled to the rear barrier bar. The side barrier apparatus comprises a side mounting plate and a side hinge configured to mount to the driver's side of the emergency vehicle proximal the trunk end. A side barrier bar is coupled to the side hinge. A plurality of side lights is coupled to the side barrier bar.

The systemic device may include an elongated member providing first and second pluralities of light-emitting outputs oriented in opposing directions, respectively. The elongated member extends from a conic base for increased visibility. Having a microprocessor configured to operate the first and second pluralities of light-emitting outputs at different intensities and patterns through a remote control raises the awareness of motorist beyond the immediate vicinity of the unsafe driving conditions.

A moveable barrier at an entry point to the secured area may include one or more light arrays affixed to a front surface of the barrier to provide information to persons proximate to the bather using one or more illumination patterns. A programmable logic controller in communication with the one or more light arrays may select a pattern of illumination for the one or more light arrays. A rear light array affixed to a rear surface of the barrier may be configured by the programmable logic controller to duplicate illumination patterns selected for the one or more light arrays affixed to the front surface of the barrier.

A pole is slidably positioned on the motor such that the motor selectively rotates the pole. A display is coupled to the pole such that the display is visible to drivers on the roadway. The display displays indicia comprising traffic information for the drivers. The display is suspended over the roadway when the motor rotates the pole into a displaying position. Moreover, the display is swung across the traffic barrier when the motor rotates the pole into a maintenance position. In this way a worker standing behind the traffic barrier can manipulate the pole and the display without being exposed to traffic on the roadway. A remote control is manipulated by a user for remotely controlling operational parameters of the motor and the display.
