The present invention provides a spacer for a road safety barrier. The spacer includes a post and a rail connected to the post via an intermediary of the spacer and a connector. The spacer includes a rail support having a front face to be fastened to a rail, a rear face to be fastened to a post and a flange that connects the front face to the rear face. The front face includes a connector housing and a weaker area connecting the connector housing to the upper edge of the front face, the mechanical resistance of the weaker area being strictly lower than the intrinsic mechanical resistance of the constituent material of the remaining part of the front face of the rail support. The spacer also includes a rail guide including a fastening area for fastening the rail guide to a post above the rail support, a connecting piece and a rail reinforcement area for fastening the rail guide to the reverse side of the rail.

Roadway guardrail system

A roadway guardrail system including a rail and plurality of support posts assembled such that upon impact from a vehicle the rail moves upwardly with respect to the post. Fasteners may be used in the operative coupling of the rail to the support posts, such that upon impact the fasteners move upwardly with respect to the support posts and the rail moves upwardly along with the fasteners. The guardrail system may further include a reinforcing member that is slidable along the post and operatively coupled to the rail with the fasteners, such that the rail and fasteners slide along with the reinforcing member with respect to the support posts. The reinforcing member may be a spacer of various shapes, a washer, an additional rail section, or other type of member that allows the rail to slide upwardly with respect to the post.

Barrier Construction

The present invention relates to posts, carriages, methods of manufacturing the components and their assembly into a barrier. The invention also includes a Z post attachment includes an attachment tab 8.016 and end engagement flange 8.024, 8.026 adapted to engage the end of the post. The arrangement can include a delineator 8.030 which is skew in relation to the tab 8.016, so as to provide reflector faces 8.032 which face oncoming traffic.

Barrier construction

A roadway, guard rail or safety barrier having a post and beam construction wherein the beam is mounted to the post by means of a carriage, the beam being secured to the carriage by a securement means, the carriage being adapted to travel longitudinally relative to the post in the event of a collision, the post further including at least one carriage support means, and one or more engagement means on an outer face of the post, the engagement means being adapted to be engaged by the securement means to provide resistance to movement of the carriage with respect to the post, wherein the carriage is sized and shaped so as to not engage or to minimize engagement with the engagement means during the movement.
