A stanchion surrounding assembly includes a first plate that has a first recess integrated into a first engaging edge of the first plate. The first recess accommodates a stanchion to inhibit vegetation from growing around the stanchion. A second plate has a second recess integrated into a second engaging edge of the second plate. The second recess accommodates the stanchion to inhibit vegetation from growing around the stanchion. The second plate engages the first plate when the first plate and the second plate are positioned against the stanchion. In this way each of the first plate and the second plate forms a disk surrounding the stanchion.
