Impact absorbing traffic noise barrier system

Disclosed is an impact resistant traffic noise barrier system. The system includes a traffic barrier that is designed to be placed adjacent a roadway and next to a flow of traffic. The design and weight of the traffic barrier permit it to withstand a variety of vehicle impacts. As part of the system, a sound wall is installed along the top of the traffic barrier. The sound wall includes a series of beams that are secured to the traffic barrier via anchor plates. Acoustic panels are secured between adjacent beams. An anchor cable extends from an anchor post, to a first post, and along a number of intermediate posts. The anchor cable is thus suspended above the traffic barrier with the anchor cable being connected to the beams. As such, the anchor cable suspends the beams in the event they become separated from the traffic barrier.

ENERGY-ABSORBING VEHICLE BARRIER SYSTEM

An energy-absorbing vehicle barrier system is provided. The energy-absorbing vehicle barrier system provides a series of spaced apart barrier units, wherein adjacent barrier units are interconnected by a cable linkage, enabling the modularity that limits damage to the barrier system and facilitates segmented replacement. Each barrier unit provides a vertically spaced apart net of longitudinal cables, each longitudinal cable terminates adjacent the opposing end faces of its barrier unit in the form of a loop, protruding through the end face. The resulting column of spaced apart loops nest with the adjacent barrier unit's column of spaced apart loops in an aligned configuration so that a pin secures both sets of columns, providing the cable linkage. The barrier units are made from no fine concrete that crumbles upon collision so as to absorb energy. The system sits on a substructure also adapted to absorb the energy of a high-speed collision.

Modular railing for on-site construction

A modular railing system for on-site assembly of a railing system along a roadway is provided. The modular railing system can include a deck with an edge beam along one side and a railing that can be attached to the edge beam. Attachment of the railing to the edge beam raises the joint between the deck and the railing to inhibit water seepage into the joint. In a specific embodiment, UHPC can be used to attach the railing to the edge beam.

In an example, a system of road barriers includes a corner barrier segment, which includes a central member, a first member extending from the central member, and second member extending from the central member. The first member and the second member are configured to rotate about an axis of the central member relative to each other. The system also includes a first barrier segment coupled to the first member of the corner barrier segment via fasteners on both the first barrier segment and the first member. The system further includes a second barrier segment coupled to the second member of the corner barrier segment via fasteners on both the second barrier segment and the second member.

Various embodiments for a median barrier finishing machine are described. A median barrier finishing machine may include a housing configured to encapsulate at least a portion of a median barrier, where the housing comprises a first vertical wall, a second vertical wall, and a horizontal wall. The median barrier finishing machine may include at least one adjustable member configured to couple the housing to the vehicle and retain the housing a predetermined distance relative to the vehicle while the vehicle is in motion. Further, the median barrier finishing machine may include at least one finishing device disposed within the housing, where the at least one finishing device is configured to contact a surface of a median barrier at least partially positioned within the housing and treat the surface as the vehicle moves the housing along a length of the median barrier.

Mobile Traffic Barrier

A traffic barrier system of series connectable barriers, each barrier having a body with a skirt section, an intermediate section comprising a lower portion, a central portion, and an upper portion, and a head section extending above the intermediate section. The skirt section and lower portion have positive slopes. The upper portion and head section have negative slopes. A vertical end channel is formed on each of the opposite first and second ends. A lower tension bar is cast in the skirt section and an upper tension bar is cast in the head section. Within the body of the barrier, the tension bars are articulated in relation to each other. The tension bars have tabs extending out of the body for overlapping pivotal connection to an adjacent barrier.

REINFORCING ELEMENT

The invention relates to a reinforcing element for a concrete barrier-wall element, which concrete barrier-wall element has a repelling profile on at least one longitudinal side, wherein the reinforcing element has longitudinal reinforcing bars and has bows, which extend transversely to the longitudinal reinforcing bars and are connected to the longitudinal reinforcing bars. According to the invention, the reinforcing element has at least one first region and the first region largely has the repelling profile. The invention further relates to a method for producing a concrete barrier-wall element having a repelling profile on at least one longitudinal side.

BARRIER FOR ROADWAY

A barrier for a roadway (e.g., a highway, bridge, or other road), which can be used to manage vehicular traffic, such as to establish lanes, protect motorists and other people (e.g., pedestrians, constructions workers, etc.) against crashes or other impacts, and/or other purposes, and which may be configured to enhance its use and performance, such as by better protecting the motorists and others when impacted by vehicles (e.g., reducing deflection by deflecting less or substantially not deflecting; mitigating risks of catapulting or vaulting of vehicles; and/or otherwise improving protection provided by the barrier), facilitating transportation, installation and/or transfer of the barrier at the roadway, and/or enhancing other aspects of the barrier.

Roadway barrier apparatus

Roadway barrier apparatus including roadway barrier modules disposed end to end and pivotally connected together by a pivot pin positioned in aligned apertures of connector brackets at the ends of the modules, the pivot pin having a groove and a spring biased hinge pusher member positionable in the groove to limit upward movement of the pivot pin.
