A length of the receptacle is greater than a length of the body such that when the receptacle is secured within the cavity, at least a part of the lid extends beyond the terminal end and the closed end is adjacent the openable member such that a waste bag roll can be placed thereon.

An animal waste collection device. An exemplary embodiment includes an elongated chassis defining a collection chamber having an open end, and a user-actuated pick up device with a movable shovel assembly mounted at the open end. The shovel assembly has a closed position for closing the open end, and an open position. A trap door is movable by the user between an opened position and a closed position located inside the collection chamber, to close the collection chamber in the closed position, and to open the collection chamber to entry of an animal waste specimen collected through the open end with the shovel assembly in the open position. Once the specimen is collected, the device may be inverted, the waste proceeding by gravity from the pick-up device, past the open trap door and into the collection chamber.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR REFUSE COLLECTION

A pet refuse collection apparatus, and methods of use of the pet refuse collection apparatus, are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a first frame portion with refuse bag support members and a first handle, and a second frame portion with a refuse bag receptacle member and a second handle. The frame portions are crossed over each other at distal ends for enhanced usability. A sliding handle grip may be provided for securing the first handle and the second handle together. The apparatus can be maneuvered using the sliding handle grip. The methods include supporting a refuse bag with the support members, threading the bag through these members, and adjusting the support members and receptacle member using the sliding handle grip. This setup ensures secure holding and efficient collection of pet refuse. The invention provides a hygienic, efficient, and user-friendly solution for managing pet waste, improving convenience for pet owners.

Self-contained, portable device to collect and store animal waste

A self-contained, portable device to collect multiple events of animal waste and store it inside a sealed chamber. (Please see FIG. 1) It is comprised of an elongated chamber with a pick-up claw assembly at one end. The claw is comprised of one static and one movable piece. The claw is manipulated by a lever which is attached to the chassis by a guide that runs along the outside of the chamber. The claw assembly is comprised of one static and one moveable scoop/claw. There is a trap door inside the chamber between the scoop/claw and the storage chamber. The specimen is covered by a small square of paper to protect the claw from contamination. Once the specimen is collected in the scoop/claw, the device is inverted and the trap door is manipulated by an external lever. The specimen will translate from the scoop, past the trap door and into an elongated bag inside the chamber. The bag assembly is inserted and removed from the clean end of the internal chamber using a guide that holds the bag in place during use. A cap at the top of the tube, at the opposite side from the scoop/claw, allows for removal of the bag from the side of the chamber that has not come into contact with the animal waste.

An open plastic bag is inserted and held within the flexible containing element and a pair of flexible lines is connected between the lever and the pickup mechanism so that moving the lever to a closed position closes the flexible containing element and the plastic bag to pick up solid pet waste. In the closed position a user may carry the device and dispose of the plastic bag and solid pet waste, when desired, by moving the lever to the open position.

The device comprises an extendable support pole comprising a first pole portion and a second pole portion, each having a first end and a second end. The first end of the second pole portion is slidably receivable within the second end of the first pole portion A securing mechanism releasably secures the first pole portion relative to the second pole portion. A spring-biased catching component is mounted to the second end of the second pole portion. A spring-biased switch mechanism is located at the first end of the first pole portion. A cable connects the catching component to the switch mechanism. Upon pulling the switch mechanism in a general direction away from the catching component, the catching component closes. Upon releasing the switch mechanism, the switch mechanism biases back toward the catching component and the catching component biases back to an open position.
