Vehicle with non-symmetrical drive members

A vehicle having a long track or wheel-trail wheel combination on one side and a smaller ground engaging member, such as a short track or wheel on the other. The vehicle has a work attachment on one end of as frame, which is provided clearance on the side of the vehicle with the short track or wheel. A control system is provided to allow an operator to properly control a direction of the vehicle despite the fact that different forces may be required to operate the long track and the short track or wheel.

Control Device for Wheel Loader

Provided is a control device for a wheel loader that is capable of improving the productivity of excavation work by reducing the work time required for the excavation work. A control device 120 is a control device for a wheel loader 1 that excavates a target by moving a vehicle body 2 forward with rotation of wheels 5f, 5r to plunge a bucket 3 into the target. The control device 120 moves the vehicle body 2 forward with the bucket 3 plunged into the target, and brakes the wheels 5f, 5r when a rotational speed of the wheels 5f, 5r exceeds a predetermined threshold BS.

Pipeline following sensor arrangement

A method and apparatus for installing a monitoring cable or other utility near an existing pipeline. An electromagnetic signal may be induced on the pipeline, either directly, or by transmitting a signal from a vehicle carrying a sensor array. The sensors disposed on the vehicle communicate with a processor to determine a distance and orientation of the vehicle relative to the pipeline. The signal may be electromagnetic, acoustic, capacitive, or the like. A plow or other digging tool may be on the vehicle or a secondary vehicle. Such a digging tool opens a trench and installs the cable along a path disposed next to the pipeline within an acceptable distance range from the pipeline. The vehicle may be remotely or automatically operated.

An excavation machine is provided. The excavation machine includes an excavation device and an excavation device drive system that powers the excavation device to move cutting tools, wherein the excavation device drive system includes an electric motor and a motor controller, wherein the motor controller is programmed to control the speed of the excavation device drive system. The motor controller sets the speed of the excavation device drive system at a predetermined excavation speed based on a predetermined target power, the predetermined target power being associated with a target torque generated by the electric motor. The speed of the excavation device drive system is set at a predetermined first excavation speed when a power transmitted to the electric motor is below the predetermined target power and at a predetermined second excavation speed to maintain the power transmitted to the electric motor at the predetermined target power.
