A saddle positioning cylinder moves between an extended position and a retracted position, and the cylinder is coupled at one end to the main frame or the saddle top member and at an opposite end to the saddle assembly. A movement of the saddle positioning cylinder induces movement of the draft frame to any of its plurality of positions.
MOTOR GRADER PROTECTION OF WIRE HARNESSES
A protection system for a wire harness in a motor grader includes a controller and a sensor. The controller has a processor executing stored commands and a datastore with memory architecture containing stored angular orientation values for the circle frame. The sensor is coupled to one or more of the circle frame, the draft frame, and a circle actuator that rotates the circle frame relative to the draft frame. The sensor is configured to detect an angular orientation of the circle frame relative to the draft frame. The controller is configured to: receive input signals from the sensor indicating the angular orientation of the circle frame relative to the draft frame; query the datastore for a maximum angular orientation value of the circle frame; and terminate actuation of the circle actuator when the circle frame is at the maximum angular orientation value.
ROAD MAINTENANCE USING STORED MAINTENANCE PASSES
In accordance with an example embodiment, a work vehicle may include a vehicle positioning system providing a vehicle position signal, a ground-engaging blade moveable by blade actuators, a blade sensing system providing a blade position signal, and a controller in communication with the vehicle positioning system, the blade actuators, and the blade sensing system. The controller may be configured to receive the vehicle position signal, receive the blade position signal, determine a target blade position using the vehicle position signal and a stored maintenance pass, the stored maintenance pass indicative of a past position of the blade associated with a past position of the vehicle for a plurality of past vehicle positions, and control the blade actuators to move the blade toward the target blade position.
Sensor for a Motor Grader
A motor grader may include a moldboard assembly movably connected to a main frame of the motor grader to move with respect to a plurality of dimensions. The moldboard assembly may include a blade having a lower cutting edge, an upper free edge, and first blade side, and a second blade side. The moldboard assembly may be adapted to pivot the blade by moving the upper free edge with respect to the lower cutting edge. The moldboard assembly may be adapted to change the cross-slope of the blade by moving the first blade side with respect to the second blade side. To determine the pitch and/or cross-slope, a blade sensor may be mounted to the moldboard assembly. The location of the blade sensor on the moldboard assembly may protect the blade sensor and allow the blade sensor to directly measure the pitch and/or cross-slope of the blade.
METHOD OF TRACKING THE POSITION OF DRAFT FRAME
A motor grader including a main frame, an operational frame movable relative to the main frame about a primary joint, and a plurality of hydraulic cylinders configured to adjust a position of the operational frame relative to the main frame, where each cylinder of the plurality of cylinders is movable between an extended position and a retracted position to adjust the length thereof. The motor grader further includes a processor configured to receive a signal indicating a desired cross slope of the operational frame, receive a signal identifying one of the plurality of cylinders as a lead cylinder, determine a desired position of the operational frame that achieves the desired cross slope of the operational frame, estimate a current position of the operational frame by monitoring a length of the lead cylinder, and adjust the position of the operational frame by controlling a follower cylinder of the plurality of cylinders to create the desired cross slope.
METHOD OF TRACKING THE POSITION OF DRAFT FRAME
A motor grader including a main frame, an operational frame movable relative to the main frame in three directions, and a linkage system coupling the operational frame to the main frame. The linkage system includes a plurality of hydraulic cylinders each movable between an extended position and a retracted position to adjust the length thereof. The plurality of cylinders is operationally connected such that movement of one cylinder of the plurality of cylinders causes movement of at least another cylinder of the plurality of cylinders. A processor is configured to receive a signal related to the length of at least one cylinder of the plurality of cylinders, and estimate, based in part on the signal, a position of the operational frame relative to the main frame in the three directions.
Actuating unit for locking a component of a construction machine
An actuating unit for locking a component of a construction machine, in particular a road milling machine or a surface miner, the actuating unit comprising a retaining part for fastening to the construction machine. A self-propelled construction machine, in particular a road milling machine or a surface miner, comprising at least one actuating unit of this type. The basic principle of the actuating unit is the design of the cylinder of a piston/cylinder arrangement as a locking bolt. In the actuating unit, a piston is connected to the retaining part and is surrounded by a cylinder, with a first cylinder chamber being formed on one side of the piston and a second cylinder chamber being formed on the other side of the piston. A cut-out which extends in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the cylinder and through which the retaining part extends is provided in the cylindrical wall of the cylinder. If one of the two cylinder chambers is supplied with a fluid, the cylinder moves to one side or the other, while the retaining part remains stationary. Therefore, the cylinder constitutes a locking bolt, which can be pushed forward or pulled back.
Motor grader circle drawbar assembly
A motor grader includes a work implement supported by a frame, a controller, and a circle drawbar assembly for controlling the work implement. The circle drawbar assembly includes a drawbar frame, a circle member coupled to the drawbar frame, and a drive arrangement coupled to the drawbar frame and the circle member for rotation thereof about the circle axis. The drawbar arrangement a first hydraulic cylinder and a second hydraulic cylinder pivotally coupled to the drawbar frame at a first location and a second location, respectively, on their respective first portions, and pivotally coupled to the circle member at a common third location on their respective second portions. A control arrangement extends and retracts the hydraulic cylinders in timed relationship to rotate the circle member about the circle axis.

A rear frame for a motor grader includes a pair of arms that are disposed equidistantly from a mid-plane. Each arm has a front portion, a rear portion, and a mid-portion located between the front and rear portions. The front portion of each arm is configured to pivotally couple with a front frame of the motor grader. The rear frame also includes a ripper mounting arrangement, a bumper, and a torque resisting member. The ripper mounting arrangement is located at a rear end of the rear portion of each arm. The bumper is laterally disposed with respect to the mid-plane and rigidly attached to a position on the rear portion of each arm located adjacent the rear end of the rear portion of each arm. The torque resisting member is laterally disposed with respect to the mid-plane and rigidly attached to the mid-portion of each arm.
