The invention relates to a powder inhaler and to a powder inhaler set that contains the powder inhaler. The powder inhaler comprises two half-shells (3, 4), which are connected to each other by means of at least one film hinge and are formed as a single piece. In a joined arrangement, the two half-shells (3, 4) enclose an air inlet region, a powder deposition region and powder release region, and an outlet region, through which regions a fluid path extends, wherein at least one of the half-shells (3, 4) has at least one air inlet opening (8) in the air inlet region. Furthermore, one of the half-shells (3, 4) has at least one powder-accommodating recess (9) in the powder deposition region and powder release region, while the outlet region has at least one deagglomeration structure (17, 17) and an outlet for aerosol, which outlet is formed by the half-shells (3, 4).

The outer casing is movable relative to the base seat between a close position where the outer casing covers the mouthpiece and where the first switch is actuated such that electric power is prevented from being supplied from the battery to the first circuit board, and an open position where the outer casing uncovers the mouthpiece and where the second switch is actuated such that electric power is supplied from the battery to the first circuit board.

The inhalator further includes a rigid outer shell including a lower shell part hinged to an upper shell part so that the shell is openable and closable, the shell serving to cover and protect the assembly and the mouthpiece or nosepiece. The assembly and the mouthpiece or nosepiece are removable as a hinged unit from the open shell as a hinged unit without dismantling either unit, or the shell is arranged so that the contours of the rim of each shell part match the contours of the rim of the other around each shell part when the shell is in the closed condition, or the assembly is retained in the lower shell part and is not moveable in normal use with respect to the lower shell part.

Apparatus and methods are described for use with a vaporizer that vaporizes at least one active ingredient of a plant material. In response to receiving a first input to the vaporizer, the plant material is heated, in a first heating step. An indication of the temperature of the plant material is detected, and, in response to detecting an indication that the temperature of the plant material is at a first temperature, the first heating step is terminated, by withholding causing further temperature increase of the plant material. The first temperature is less than 95 percent of the vaporization temperature of the active ingredient. Subsequently, a second input is received at the vaporizer. In response thereto, the plant material is heated to the vaporization temperature, in a second heating step. Other applications are also described.

Apparatus and methods are described for use with a portion of plant material that includes at least one active ingredient. A vaporizing unit includes a heating element configured to heat the plant material, and a sensor configured to detect an indication of airflow rate through the vaporizing unit. Control circuitry is configured to receive an indication of the airflow rate through the vaporizing unit, and, in response thereto, to determine a smoking profile that is desired by the user. The control circuitry drives the heating element to vaporize the active ingredient of the plant material by heating the plant material according to the determined smoking profile. The control circuitry dynamically updates the smoking profile in response to changes in airflow rate over the course of a smoking session. Other applications are also described.

Phyto material tablets, tablet vaporizers, methods and apparatus for forming phyto material tablets. The tablets are formed to increase vaporization efficiency. Tablets can include break regions to facilitate fracturing into multiple pieces for vaporization. The tablets can also include multiple layers of different phyto material mixtures. Compression molds are used to shape the tablets. The compression molds can be provided on a rotational assembly to facilitate rapid manufacturing of multiple tablets. The vaporizers include heating chambers that are configured to increase the surface area of the tablets exposed for vaporization. The heating chambers include compression or fracture members that compress and/or encourage fracturing of the tablets to assist vaporization.
