Collapsible disposable spacer for metered dose inhalers
The present invention is a collapsible/expandable and disposable spacer for use with a metered dose inhaler (MDI). One embodiment of the invention is a spacer collapsible into a substantially flat configuration for storage and expandable into a spacer volume for use with a metered dose inhaler (MDI) wherein the spacer comprises: (a) a collapsible and expandable panel arrangement internally located within the spacer volume to divide the spacer volume into a MDI medicament delivery chamber and an inhalation/exhalation chamber when the spacer is in an expanded configuration; (b) a medicament delivery opening adapted to receive a MDI in a MDI medication delivery end of the MDI medicament delivery chamber; (c) an inhalation opening in a mouthpiece end of the inhalation/exhalation chamber; (d) an exhalation opening in the inhalation/exhalation chamber; and further wherein the panel arrangement comprises an aperture off-set from the medicament delivery opening with the proviso that the aperture is not a valved aperture.
EXPANDABLE SPACERS, VALVED HOLDING CHAMBERS AND FACE MASKS FOR INHALERS
A device, called expandable spacer, for improving the efficacy of drug delivery in metered dose inhalers is described. The device has a body made of flexible (might be expandable) material. It can shrink in size when it is not in use and can go back to its normal shape and size when it is used. The device further comprises a valve (can be one way valve) that helps the drug to be maintained inside the spacer's cavity and opens during inhalation and closes during exhalation.
Delivery System for Metered Dose Inhalers
An accessory device for delivering medications from press and breath metered-dose inhalers (pMDIs), including those medications containing hydrofluoroalkane propellants. The device includes a collapsible flexible bag to which is attached a bidirectional mouthpiece and an adaptor that receives the press and breath MDI. The mouthpiece contains a reed that functions as an audible signal, and a screen to prevent inhalation of unwanted particles. The adaptor positions the press and breath MDI at an angle to direct the aerosol spray toward the center of the collapsible flexible bag. When the press and breath MDI is triggered, it discharges the aerosolized medication into the center of the collapsible flexible bag which is then inhaled by the user through the mouthpiece. This collapses the bag. The reed emits an audible sound if the user inhales above a pre-determined flow rate to maximize medication delivery and ensure dose-to-dose consistency.
Breath actuated inhalers
An accessory (50,80) adapted to be used with a breath actuated inhaler (10), the breath actuated inhaler (10) comprising an air inlet (19), an outlet (20) for delivering medicament and a trigger mechanism (30) for triggering the delivery of a dose of the medicament in response to a flow (40) between the air inlet (19) and the outlet (20), wherein the accessory comprises: a pressure assist unit (52, 54) for application to the air inlet, comprising an assist chamber (52) for holding a volume of air and a mechanical release system (54, 70) for expelling air from the assist chamber to the air inlet, at a rate sufficient to trigger the trigger mechanism. Hence, it has an assist chamber for holding a volume of air and a mechanical release system for expelling air from the assist chamber to the air inlet, at a rate sufficient to trigger a dose trigger mechanism of the breath actuated inhaler. In this way, a user may use a breath actuated inhaler even if they do not have the ability to generate an inhalation suitable for activating the inhaler.
SPACER CHAMBER HAVING TWO AEROSOL PORTS
A spacer chamber having a body with a base end; a tip end; a popoid section located between the base end and the tip end; a first aerosol port located on a first side of the body and near the tip end; a second aerosol port located on a second side of the body and near the tip end, the first side is opposite to the second side. Several therapeutic spray agents are simultaneously applied to a patient by the spacer chamber via the each one of the first aerosol port and the second aerosol port.
VAPORIZER IMPROVEMENTS
Systems, methods and apparatuses for vaporizing all or substantially all plant matter, liquid and/or other material to be vaporized are disclosed. Embodiments of the invention comprise a vaporization chamber sealed except for at least two conduits, heating element, a first conduit coupled to a source of fully or almost fully oxygenated gas, a heating element capable of heating the vaporization chamber to a temperature above a combustion temperature, a second conduit configured to transport vaporization gases and vaporized elements out of the vaporization chamber and at least one valve positioned in the second conduit preventing the flow of atmospheric air into the vaporization chamber. In some instances, the first gas substantially clears the vaporization chamber of atmospheric air prior to reaching combustion temperature. A second gas containing oxygen may be intermixed with the vaporization gases and vaporized elements proximal to the combustion chamber.
SPACER DEVICE FOR AN INHALER
The invention relates to a valveless spacer device for a metered dose inhaler (MDI), the spacer device comprising a body having an inlet and an outlet opposed from the inlet, a demountable, flexible bag attached to the body, the bag and body together defining a chamber, such that the inlet and outlet are in fluid flow communication with an interior of the chamber, wherein the inlet is configured to be connected to an MDI containing a drug to be inhaled and wherein the flexible bag, following actuation of the MDI, serves as a reservoir allowing for the formation of a cloud or mist of the drug therewithin which is then ready for inhalation, the flexible bag being configured to be at least partially deflatable and at least partially inflatable commensurate with a single breath and/or rebreathing.
Inhalation devices and systems and methods including the same
A collapsible inhalation device for use with a metered dose inhaler (MDI) dispenser includes an outlet end member, an inlet end member and a tubular, pliable, collapsible sleeve member attached at either end to the inlet and outlet members. The outlet end member includes a mouthpiece. The inlet end member includes an inlet port and an MDI dispenser mount structure configured to receive and engage the MDI dispenser. The inhalation device is positionable in each of an open position, wherein the sleeve member defines a chamber, and a closed position, wherein the sleeve member is collapsed and enveloped by the outlet end member and the inlet end member.
MEDICATION INHALATION DEVICE
A medication inhalation device comprises a housing (10) movable between a collapsed state and an expanded state. In the expanded state the housing defines a volume for mixing a medication delivered from a medication delivery device and air. In the expanded state the housing (10) comprises: external walls (11), (12), (13), (14) that define the volume, a first end (15) with an inlet opening (18) for delivering the medication to the volume, and a second end (16) with an outlet opening (19). A mixture of air and medication can be inhaled from the volume by the user. The second end (16) is convertible between a mouthpiece configuration and a mask configuration.
