CONNECTION NODE FOR MODULAR BUILDING STRUCTURES
A connection node assembly for use in connecting an upper prefabricated building module to a lower module. Hollow vertical edge supports of the building modules have top and bottom connection parts. A connecting bolt can be passed through the top part of an upper vertical support in the upper building module and seated within the bottom part of that vertical support with the shank extending downward. The shank engages a threaded aperture in a connecting nut secured within the top part of a corresponding lower vertical support in the lower building module. Diaphragm plates sandwiched between the upper and lower vertical supports are used to tie horizontally placed modules together.
Truss, Arched Structure And Shed
The present invention relates to a truss that allows the formation of an arc when connected with other trusses and that creates an optimal angle that generates a lower calculation effort in the structure.
The present invention also relates to an arched structure comprising a plurality of such trusses and to a shed comprising a plurality of arched structures.
Blast, ballistic and forced entry resistant shelter
The present anti-ballistic shelter is a reinforced unit configured to comply with both ISO standards for size and weight, and with the U.S. Department of State Certification Standard for Forced Entry and Ballistic Resistance of Structural Systems. Each end and side wall of the unit is reinforced with wall studs that penetrate the unit's structural framework. Even though these wail studs are welded into place, penetration of the wall studs into the framework ensures acceptable blast, ballistic, and forced entry resistance even if the welds are flawed.
MODULAR HABITABLE STRUCTURES, AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A module for a structural system may include chords oriented along a length of the module and a plurality of rib assemblies positioned between the chords. Two of the rib assemblies may include shear keys configured to be received in piers at a final installation site. A method of making a structure may include positioning the shear keys in pockets of the piers.
DUCTILE ANCHOR ATTACHMENT (DAA) MECHANISM, FUSE PLATE SYSTEM, AND MODIFIED JACKET
A ductile anchor attachment (DAA) mechanism is disclosed. Example embodiments are directed to a DAA fuse plate including a bottom section configured to connect to an existing anchor; a tapered lower section; a narrowed neck forming a ductile yield mechanism; a tapered upper section; and a connection mechanism for direct removable coupling of the DAA fuse plate to a structure being anchored, the connection mechanism being in contact with the tapered upper section of the DAA fuse plate, the DAA fuse plate in combination with the connection mechanism being configured to not buckle under compression forces and to adjustably dissipate tension forces acting on the structure being anchored.
BASE CONNECTIONS AND STRUCTURES INCLUDING THE BASE CONNECTIONS, KITS FOR FORMING AND METHODS OF REPAIRING THE SAME
Embodiments are directed to base connections, structures including base connections, kits for forming the base connections and/or structures, and method of repairing yielded base connections. In an embodiment, a base connection includes a base plate including a top surface and a bottom surface opposite the top surface. The top surface is configured to be adjacent to a terminal end of a column and the bottom surface adjacent to a foundation. The connection also includes one or more anchor rods attached to the base plate. The anchor rods are configured to secure the base plate to the foundation. The connection includes at least one structural fuse configured to be attached to the column and attached to the base plate. The fuse includes a plate with at least one cutout formed therein. The cutout is configured to form one or more yield regions that are configured to preferentially yield.
Quick-assemble construction system and freestanding seating system utilizing same
Exemplary embodiments relate to a quick-assemble construction system that includes various components that can be positioned and interconnected quickly and later adjusted and tightened. The quick-assemble construction system was envisioned specifically for freestanding seating systems that can be quickly installed and removed if needed, although the quick-assemble construction system can be used in a wider range of applications and is not limited to seating systems.
Cable system for a disaster-resistant structure and method for constructing cable system
The present invention is a novel cable system for a disaster-resistant structure (such as a building or wall) and a method for constructing or assembling the cable system to secure the structure, including the roof of the structure, to a body of cast material such as a foundation, grade beam, base, platform, slab or floor by incorporating flexible cables to resist the very high loads that may occur due to high winds, tornadoes, earthquakes, or other severe storms.
BEAM SYSTEM AND METHOD OF ERECTING A SUPPORTING ARCH
A beam system and method of erecting a supporting arch enables large roofed structures to be erected quickly and economically. The method includes aligning a plurality of structural elements longitudinally; connecting upper corners of the structural elements to upper corners of adjacent structural elements, wherein adjacent lower corners of the structural elements remain unconnected; elevating first and second structural elements in a middle of the supporting arch; connecting lower corners of the first and second structural elements together; elevating third and fourth structural elements adjacent the first and second structural elements, respectively; and connecting lower corners of the third and fourth structural elements to lower corners of the first and second structural elements, respectively.
Modular building structures improvements
There is provided building structures that are demountable from a first configuration to be reassemblable to the first configuration or another configuration. The building structures include systems and kits for the structure, post anchors, kits for floor structure, method for assembling floor structures, wall and ceiling support systems, electrical junction box supports, and kits for frame assembly.
