A system and method for connecting precast concrete structures includes anchoring a sleeve within a pocket formed in one of the concrete structures, and placing the concrete structures in contact with one another such that the pocket is diposed around a protruding end of a shear connector embedded in the other concrete structure. A bridge is inserted around the protruding end of the shear connector and a fastener is installed onto the protruding end of the shear connector to engage the bridge and urge the bridge in abutting relation with a lip of the sleeve. The pocket is then filled with a grout.

The assembly (10) further includes the insertion device (14) insertable into the cavity (18) via the opening (42). There is provided an anchor assembly (10) and an insertion device (14) for an anchor (12). The anchor assembly (10) comprises the anchor (14) mountable on a support (22), the anchor (14) comprising a body (16), the body (16) defining a cavity (18) and an opening (42). The assembly (10) further includes the insertion device (14) insertable into the cavity (18) via the opening (42). The insertion device (14) comprises a securing member (46) movable between securing and insertion positions.

A cast-in-place anchor including a cavity in which a cable is provided and from within which the cable can be withdrawn through an aperture of the anchor, the anchor further including a retaining portion for resisting complete withdrawal of the cable from within the cavity of the anchor. A method of manufacturing including the steps of providing a retaining portion on a cable to resist complete withdrawal of the cable from within a cavity of a cast-in-place anchor in use; and disposing the cable in the cavity of the cast-in-place anchor, from which cavity the cable can be withdrawn through an aperture of the cast-in-place anchor.
