Fragment-, overpressure-, radiation-, and toxic-resistant emergency safety shelter
A modular safety shelter provides protection from fragment, overpressure, radiation, and toxic hazards through a combination of physical design of modular segments, of joint seals between modular segments, of door assemblies, and of HVAC control systems. The modular shelter is formed of two or more prefabricated concrete modular segments each including a built-in foundation, roof, and side walls, and a prefabricated concrete vestibule segment providing an airlock-like access to the shelter. The prefabricated modular segments and vestibule segment are transported to a site and assembled to each other on-site to provide a fully enclosed space within the modular shelter. A multi-layer joint seal is formed between adjacent modular segments to prevent ingress of toxic, flammable, or thermal hazards. An integrated HVAC controller monitors toxic or flammable hazards outside and inside of the shelter, and controls HVAC systems to minimize spread of contaminants upon detecting a hazard.
MODULAR INTEGRATED CONSTRUCTION JOINT
The invention relates to a modular integrated construction joint which includes a first building module, a second building module or a structural wall and a joint between the first building module and the second building module or structural wall. The joint includes a flexible seamless stitching system, which provides a long-term firestop, smokestop and waterproof for the joint cavity in-between modules in modular integrated construction (MiC).
Below grade, blind side, dual waterproofing membrane assembly incorporating a bentonite sheet waterproofing membrane, and a sheet membrane with adhesive to fully bond to concrete/shotcrete, and a method of making, and using same
The present invention relates to a below grade, blind side, dual waterproofing membrane assembly incorporating a secondary membrane comprising of a bentonite sheet waterproofing layer, and a primary membrane comprising of a sheet membrane having an adhesive to fully bond to a concrete/shotcrete. The invention encompasses a dual layer or dual membrane system that acts as a barrier, and prevents, and blocks water and moisture, from passing from one side of the structure to the other side. The dual barrier layer system can be used along a wall, a floor, a ceiling, or along any structure which requires water or moisture proofing. The invention can be used between a concrete or shotcrete layer and the surrounding earth, such as, along an area that has a high water table, or a constant hydrostatic pressure, or high ground moisture, that may creep into a foundation or a wall.
BELOW GRADE, BLIND SIDE, WATERPROOFING SHEET MEMBRANE WITH ADHESIVE AND HAVING IMPROVED LOW REFLECTIVITY GRANULAR PARTICLE LAYER TO FULLY BOND TO CONCRETE/SHOTCRETE, AND A METHOD OF MAKING, AND USING SAME
The present invention relates generally to a below grade, blind side, waterproofing sheet membrane with adhesive and low reflectivity granular particle layer to fully bond to concrete/shotcrete, and a method of making, and using same. More particularly, the invention encompasses a below grade, blind side, waterproofing sheet membrane with adhesive, and having at least one layer of low reflectivity granular particle layer that are fully or partly embedded into the adhesive layer, and where the average reflectivity of the exposed granular particles is about 50 or below 55 percent reflectivity on a standard reflectivity scale. The inventive waterproofing layer having the waterproofing sheet membrane, and an adhesive layer having embedded therein low reflectivity granular particles can be used in any building or wall construction, and can be placed under or around a foundation of a building or dwelling or on its below grade blind side retaining walls, etc.
A METHOD FOR INSTALLING OF A SEALING ELEMENT FOR A CONCRETE JOINT
A method for installing a sealing element for a concrete joint, which avoids the use of split formworks. The sealing element used in the method includes a body having a center portion and first and second side portions on opposite sides of the center portion. It is further directed to a sealed concrete construction obtainable by using the method.
BELOW GRADE, BLIND SIDE, WATERPROOFING SHEET MEMBRANE WITH ADHESIVE AND HAVING MODERATE REFLECTIVITY GRANULAR PARTICLE LAYER TO FULLY BOND TO CONCRETE/SHOTCRETE, AND A METHOD OF MAKING, AND USING SAME
The present invention relates generally to a below grade, blind side, waterproofing sheet membrane with adhesive and moderate reflectivity granular particle layer to fully bond to concrete/shotcrete, and a method of making, and using same. More particularly, the invention encompasses a below grade, blind side, waterproofing sheet membrane with adhesive, and having at least one layer of moderate reflectivity granular particle layer that are fully or partly embedded into the adhesive layer, and where the average reflectivity of the exposed granular particles is below 55 percent reflectivity on a standard reflectivity scale. The inventive waterproofing layer having the waterproofing sheet membrane, and an adhesive layer having embedded therein moderate reflectivity granular particles can be used in any building or wall construction, and can be placed under or around a foundation of a building or dwelling or on its below grade blind side retaining walls, etc.
SEALING TAPE WITH A FUNCTIONAL LAYER
A sealing device has a waterproofing layer, a functional layer, and an adhesive layer coated on and at least partially covering the first major surface of the waterproofing layer opposite the side of the functional layer. Also, a method produces a sealing device, a method waterproofs a substrate, and the use of the sealing device seals lapped joints formed between overlapping portions of waterproofing membranes and patches breaches in waterproofing membranes.
Waterstop with dynamic-sealing hydrophilic thermoplastic expansible soft flanges
A waterstop assembly for use as embedded components in at least a pair of adjacent concrete slabs, defining elongated first and second waterstop panels including a main body sheet to which is mounted by coextrusion or insertion to both of its opposite top and bottom ends a soft expansible flange made from hydrophilic thermoplastic material. Each hydrophilic soft flange has such an expansion capability as to provide strong radially outward pressure applied by the soft flange against the adjacent concrete slabs, thus providing watertight interconnection therebetween. A welding block is taken in sandwich between overlapping transitional end portions of the first and second waterstop panels. Integral ridge and groove connectors interconnect the welding block with the waterstop panels. Resistance wires connected at one end to an electric power source fuse the welding block and the first and second waterstop panels, wherein a watertight joint is formed therebetween. An upright steel post is mounted spacedly parallel to a corresponding one of first and second waterstop panels, and a transverse anchor arm transversely spacedly retaining waterstop panel in upright operational condition parallel to the steel post before and during first concrete pour.
