The multi-layered coating system includes: a layer 1 including a plurality of spherical voids with a radius a.sub.1 that are randomly distributed and separated from one another and a filler material with a refractive index n.sub.1 that is disposed in a space between the spherical voids; and subsequent layers expressed as the following word-equation, “a layer i located above a layer i−1 and including a plurality of spherical voids with a radius a.sub.i that are randomly distributed and separated from one another, and a filler material with a refractive index n.sub.i, the filler material disposed in a space between the spherical voids where i is an integer greater than 1”.

Building construction method
09834923 · 2017-12-05 ·

A building construction unit and a method of constructing a building using wall and ceiling panel assemblies that are made up of traditional framing materials, such as studs and interior walls, coated with insulating foam, except that the typical exterior sheathing is optional. Because the panel assembly is structurally sound and thermally insulated, the only reason to install an exterior sheath or additional roofing material is for aesthetic or practical purposes.

Method to reduce air infiltration through an insulated frame structure

Air flow is reduced through a structure insulated with one more layers of fiber wool or particulate insulating material. A layer of a foamed fluid polymeric composition is applied onto the exposed surface of the insulation to cover the edges at which the exposed surface of the insulation meets an enclosing member of the structure. The layer is then cured to form a polymeric coating on the exposed surface of the insulation. The coating seals the edge or edges at which the exposed surface of the insulation meets the enclosing members of the structure.

Insulation-retaining sheet having integral vapor-retarding membrane

The present disclosure relates generally to an insulation-retaining sheet, e.g., for blown-in insulation, that includes an integral vapor-retarding membrane. In one aspect, the disclosure provides an insulation-retaining sheet including a sheet of mesh having an air permeability of at least 200 cfm per square foot; and one or more strips of vapor-retarding membrane, the one or more strips of vapor-retarding membrane being laminated to the sheet of mesh, the first side edge each of the strips of vapor-retarding membrane extending to the first side edge of the sheet of mesh, the second side edge each of the strips of vapor-retarding membrane extending to the second side edge of the sheet of mesh, wherein the insulation-retaining sheet has a plurality of open zones extending laterally from the first side edge of the sheet of mesh to the second side edge of the sheet of mesh in which no vapor-retarding membrane is laminated to the mesh.

Modular Building Unit, System and Method

The invention is for a modular building unit (10, 200, 210) for use in constructing a building. The building unit (10, 200, 210) has a planar body (12) having two major side faces (12.1) and two ends (12.2) between each side face (12.1), and a connection interface (28, 30) provided at each of the ends, for connecting similar building units (10, 200, 210) with complemental connection interfaces. The body (12) comprises three walls (14, 16, 18) arranged side-to-side and transversely spaced from each other, the three walls (14, 16, 18) thus defining two planar spaces (20, 22) therebetween, and a plurality of reinforcing webs (24) in the first space, for providing structural support to the building unit (10, 200, 210). The second space (22) defines at least one hollow cavity for receiving a matched insulation insert (25) thereby to impart insulating properties to the building unit (10, 200, 210).
