Retrofit roof with a phase change material modulated climate space
11761211 · 2023-09-19 ·

A thermally modulating roof system wherein a minority of climate space between an existing and new roof is occupied by a phase change material assembly. The system maintains an industry standard of no more than a distance of about 4 inches between the roofs while still incorporating a substantial capacity to modulate an otherwise rising temperature of a facility during the day. Unique methods of installing the system, utilizing it and circulating air through the system to enhance performance are detailed.

Composite insulation batt

A composite insulation batt is provided. The composite insulation batt includes a fiberglass insulation core within a sheath of closed cell plastic material and provides greatly increased insulating properties over conventional fiberglass insulation batts.

Infrared attenuation agent blends

Inorganic infrared attenuation agent blends have been developed to improve the thermal insulation properties of polymeric foams such as polystyrene low density foams. The inorganic infrared attenuation agent blends can include two or more metal oxides such as silicon dioxide, manganese (IV) oxide, iron (III) oxide, magnesium oxide, bismuth (III) oxide, cobalt oxide, zirconium (IV) oxide, molybdenum (III) oxide, titanium oxide, and calcium oxide. In some preferred embodiments, the inorganic infrared attenuation agent blends can include four or more of these metal oxides.

Thermal insulating element
11787147 · 2023-10-17 · ·

An insulating element for thermally insulating spaces, including closed cells, in which a first and a second group of closed cells are formed by first or second recesses in a first or second flat element and the first and the second flat elements form first or second connection regions between recesses adjacent to the edges of the openings, to which respectively a flat covering element closing the openings of a plurality of first recesses is bonded on a front side of the flat element. The second recesses are arranged between the first recesses on a rear side of the first flat element and the first recesses are arranged between the second recesses on a rear side of the second flat element such that the space remaining of the first and second recesses between the first and the second flat elements amounts to less than 50% of the space enclosed by the first and second recesses.

POLYURETHANE COATINGS WITH HIGH SOLAR REFLECTANCE

The present disclosure relates generally to polyurethane-based coatings with high solar reflectivity, for example, for use as a coating on a building surfaces. In one aspect the disclosure provides a solar reflective coating that comprises a functionalized anionic polyurethane present in an amount in the range of 10-80 wt %, preferably 20-80 wt % of the composition on a dry solids basis; a water-insoluble transition metal crosslinking agent present in an amount in the range of 0.5-30 wt % of the composition on a dry solids basis; and at least one of: a hydrophobic acrylic polymer present in an amount in the range of 20 wt % to 80 wt % on a dry solids basis, and a near-infrared reflective colored pigment present in an amount of at least 0.1 wt %, e.g., in the range of 0.2 wt % to 10 wt % on a dry solids basis.

The present disclosure provides a heat-shielding panel having a heat-shielding function and a heat-isolating function, and a prefabricated building constructed by arranging a plurality of heat-shielding panels adjacently. The heat-shielding panel (1) of the present disclosure includes a pair of sheets (10, 20) and an enclosed space (30). The pair of sheets (10, 20) are provided with an exposed surface respectively, and back faces of the pair of sheets (10, 20) are oppositely arranged at intervals. The pair of sheets (10, 20) are formed by heat-shielding sheets (12). The enclosed space is arranged between the pair of sheets (10, 20). The enclosed space is formed by sandwiching a spacer (31) between the pair of sheets (10, 20). A fluid such as air is enclosed in the enclosed space.

MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR PASSIVE RADIATIVE COOLING

A coating including a relatively thin visible-absorptive layer atop a relatively thick non-absorptive, solar-scattering underlayer. The thin top layer enables efficient absorption of appropriate visible wavelengths to show specific colors, and minimizes absorption in the infrared radiation in sunlight due to its relatively small thickness. Meanwhile, the bottom layer maximizes the backscattering of infrared light without absorption to reduce solar heating.
