Insulated wallboards are exposed interior insulation panels, for walls and ceilings, in occupiable spaces, that can be taped, finished, textured, and painted, which eliminates the need for gypsum board, and reduces or eliminates the need for other insulation, such as wall cavity insulation and exterior insulation. Insulated wallboard panels are formed by applying various combinations of thermal reflection layers such as aluminum foil; moisture resistance layer; or reinforcement layers over an insulating core. An enhanced surface or enhanced surface layer is provided on the interior-facing surface of the panel, to accept joint compound, paint, plaster, texture, or other interior finish. The core may be phenolic or other material with appropriate insulating and fire-retardant properties. The insulated wallboards may be applied directly to wood or metal framing, masonry, CMU, tilt-up concrete walls; or over existing gypsum board or other interior surfaces to retrofit additional insulation without disrupting exterior walls or roof.

The present invention provides for a metal stud for use in sound attenuating wall systems utilizing high density, abuse resistant wallboard, the metal stud having specific steel chemical and mechanical properties to result in increased sound attenuation properties while maintaining the load carrying capacity and screw performance providing improved economics. The metal stud is a generally C shaped metal stud constructed of 0.0180 steel having at least 57 ksi strength having two parallel spaced apart flanges joined along the length of one edge by a central web and being provided with an in-turned double thickness hemmed ledge along the length of the second edge, the flanges having a width of greater than 1 inches between the one edge and the second edge, each of the flanges being provided with a reinforcing rib centrally located in the flange extending the length of the flange. The central web has a main central section bordered by channel shaped ribs extending longitudinally of the stud outwardly of the central web, the edges connected to the edges of the flange.

The upper and lower edges of adjacent first sheets are vertically spaced apart to define horizontally elongated gaps therebetween. The horizontally elongated gaps are fluidly connected to interior chambers disposed above and below the horizontal dividers to define Helmholtz resonators whereby sound that is incident on the front side of the partition frame is absorbed to the Helmholtz resonance.

A spacer for use in spacing a cladding component from a building component has a support member, a base spaced apart from the support member, the base having a contact surface facing away from the support member, a web connected between the support member and the base, and a guide configured to locate the cladding component on the support member. A plurality of the spacers can be used by resiliently deforming them to accommodate and retain by restorative bias force a corresponding plurality of portions of the cladding component. Thereafter, the spacers are secured to the building component.
