METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SPRAY DRYING INSECTS

In some examples, a system may be configured to generating flour having a uniform particle size of less than 100 Microns from whole insects. For example, the may include generating a slurry from whole insects by adding water while blending the whole insects using one or more mixers to generate an insect slurry. In some cases, the water is added to the insect parts to reduce the viscosity and to assist in separating the whole insects into parts. In some cases, the insect slurry may be filtered.

Isoelectric solubilisation of animal matter

A method of sequential isoelectric solubilisation of animal by-product comprising the steps of isoelectric solubilisation of the animal by-product in one of an acid or alkali solution to provide a first solubilised protein fraction, separating the first solubilised protein fraction from unsolubilised animal by-product, isoelectric solubilisation of the unsolubilised animal by-product to provide a second solubilised protein fraction, and separation of the second solubilised protein fraction from unsolubilised animal by-product. The protein from the first and/or second solubilised protein fractions is recovered by drying or precipitation. In one embodiment, the acid and alkali soluble protein fractions are proportionally combined to neutralise the composite fraction and precipitate protein.

PROCESS FOR ENCAPSULATING NATURAL FOLLISTATIN

A process for the production of fat-encapsulated follistatin. The process includes metering fat having a melting point of at least 40° C. into an extruder, heating the fat in the extruder during rotation of the at least one screw, metering the follistatin into the extruder barrel to produce a flowable mixture, cooling the flowable mixture in a downstream adjacent section of the extruder barrel, subsequently discharging the mixture through an extruder die, and comminuting the mixture after it discharges from the extruder die.

Process for Obtaining Lean Protein

A protein fraction and an oxidation stable fat fraction are recovered from meat trimmings or a high fat content animal muscle tissue. The trimmings are comminuted, and solubilized with a food grade acid or base. The solubilized protein/fat solution is heated so that the fat transforms into a liquid state. The protein is precipitated and the liquid fat is separated. The process results in a lean protein product that is red in color and can also have characteristics of functional meat.
