TRACHEAL TUBE AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLING A TRACHOSTOMIE TUBE

A paediatric tracheostomy tube is provided in two parts. One part is a patient end portion (13) having a silicone shaft (10) arranged to locate in the trachea. The machine end is formed with a mounting flange (20) adapted to lie against the neck and has a low profile coupling (21) on its machine side. The other part is a machine end portion (23) having a flexible, corrugated shaft (10′) of polypropylene with a low profile coupling (26) at its patient end adapted to engage the coupling (21) on the flange as a twist fit. The machine end of the machine end portion (23) has a tapered male coupling (25) adapted to fit with a female coupling on a breathing tube, the male coupling having a larger profile than the coupling (26) on the patient end of the machine end portion (23) and the coupling (21) on the flange.

VENTILATOR

A ventilator (1) with a control unit (49). The control unit (49) controls the inhalation valve (41) and the exhalation valve (43) in order to raise an inhalation pressure level from a first pressure level to a predefined second pressure level and to maintain the inhalation pressure level for a first predefined time period and the control unit (49) controls the inhalation valve (41) and the exhalation valve (43) to raise the second pressure level to a predefined third pressure level and to maintain the third pressure level for a second predefined time period. The control unit (49) takes into consideration predefined values (80) for controlling the pressure levels and for controlling the time periods.

Patient ventilating and aspirating system

A patient ventilating (23) and aspirating system (8) is disclosed that has a suction tube (9) and connector (6) for connecting to a catheter mount that has a sealed passageway (15). The catheter mount passageway (15) is sealed with an elastomeric seal (16) including a perforation or slit (17). A connector (12) with a piercing member is associated with the suction tube (9). When the connector is attached to the catheter mount the piercing member (20) pierces the seal (16) such that the suction tube (9) can pass through the connector (6) and catheter mount.

BREATHING DEVICES AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Breathing devices deliver at least one treatment to a subject and include at least two components comprising at least one of a ventilation unit for supplying a gas to the subject, a humidification unit for humidifying a gas supplied to the subject, a nebulizer unit for supplying a medication to the subject, a suction unit for suctioning a portion of an airway of the subject, and a cough assist unit for simulating a cough within the subject. Methods of providing a treatment to a subject may be provided with a breathing device.

BALLOONED VENTILATION TUBE CLEANING DEVICE
20210128856 · 2021-05-06 ·

A cleaning device, system and method for use with an ETT or tracheostomy ventilation tube 60, a ventilator machine 900, a source(s) 602 of fluid (for example, pressurized or unpressurized) and a source(s) of suctioning 603 is disclosed. In some embodiments, the cleaning device is useful for cleaning an inner surface of the ventilation tube 60 and/or for preventing or hindering the accumulation of biofilm thereon. In some embodiments, it is possible to clean biofilm or any other material on the inner surface 201 by delivering fluid into an interior of the ventilation tube, wiping the tube interior with a width-expanded wiping element (e.g. an inflated balloon) by longitudinal motion of the wiping element, and suctioning material out of the ventilation tube.

IMPROVED TRACHEOSTOMY DEVICE

A tracheostomy airway device is provided comprising an outer cannula (110) having open proximal and distal ends, an inner actuation member insertable into the proximal end of the outer cannula, and one or more retention members (130). The one or more retention members are movable relative to the outer cannula between a retracted configuration in which the tracheostomy device is insertable into, and removable from, the trachea of a patient, and an extended configuration in which the one or more retention members impede removal of the tracheostomy airway device from the trachea. The retention members are operably linked to the inner actuation member or the outer cannula, such that movement of the inner actuation member relative to the outer cannula actuates movement of the one or more retention members between the retracted configuration and the extended configuration.

Tracheostomy tube with inner cannula

A tracheal tube assembly includes an outer cannula configured to be positioned in a patient airway and an inner cannula configured to be disposed inside the outer cannula. The tracheal tube assembly further includes a flange member secured about the outer cannula, and an outer cannula connector coupled to a proximal end of the outer cannula. The inner cannula includes a proximal end region with features that facilitate insertion and/or removal.

Tube introducers, assemblies and methods

A tracheostomy tube introducer (1) has a patient end region (10) on which the tube (2) is mounted and that is curved in one sense. The introducer has a machine end region (11) projecting from the rear end of the tube (2) to provide a handle that curves in the opposite sense to the patient end region (10) so that the introducer has an S shape along its length. A bore (24) for a guide member extends from the patient end tip (14) of the introducer and opens in the machine end region (11) through a side opening (25). The introducer 1 is provided in a kit (200) with the tracheostomy tube (2) and a dilator (202) having the same general S shape as the introducer.

Aerosol delivery system and method

An aerosol delivery system that includes an aerosol generator that aerosolizes a fluid for delivery to a patient as a patient inhales. The aerosol delivery system includes a pump coupled to the aerosol generator that pumps the fluid to the aerosol generator, and a breath sensor that emits a signal as the patient breathes. A controller couples to the aerosol generator, the pump, and the breath sensor. In operation, the controller receives the signal from the breath sensor, controls a flow of fluid to the aerosol generator in response to the signal, and controls the aerosol generator to start aerosolizing the fluid before the patient inhales.
