TRACHEOSTOMY TUBES AND THEIR MANUFACTURE
The neck flange 3 of a tracheostomy tube is of a soft plastics such as silicone and has neck tie or suture openings 35 at opposite ends reinforced to prevent damage to the flange. The openings are reinforced by tubular inserts 38 of a harder plastics. The patient end of each insert has an enlarged, radially extending head 41 sitting flush in an enlarged recess 43 around the patient end of each opening. The opposite end of each insert also has an enlarged head 42 overlapping the flange but formed after the insert has been inserted in the flange. The opposite end head 42 may be heat formed from the end of the insert or may be a separate component clipped onto the end of the insert.
Tracheal tube apparatus and methods
A tracheal tube includes an inner cannula and an outer cannula that are connected with a threaded connection able to swivel, and wherein the inner cannula is also connected to an elbow adaptor through a Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connection. Both the threaded and the BNC connects provide more secure connections of the corresponding components and are able to withstand greater amounts of force exerted on them without becoming detached from each other. The elbow adapter may further be coupled to a pressure release valve that will alleviate pressure buildup within the tracheal tube.
AIRWAY MAINTENANCE DEVICE
The disclosure relates to an airway maintenance device, such as an endotracheal tube, tracheostomy tube, or supraglottic airway device, and in particular to an airway maintenance device having a sensor for measuring capillary blood flow and/or pressure. The device includes an airway maintenance device with an airway lumen having a proximal end and a distal end, a distal end portion incorporating an optical sensor configured to measure capillary blood flow in tissue surrounding the distal end when in position within a patient's airway. The optical sensor may include a portion of an optical fibre extending to the distal end portion along the lumen.
Support Device and Methods for Use
The present disclosure provides a device including comprising: (i) a concave surface at a first end of the device, (ii) a conduit at a second end of the device, and (iii) a pair of side surfaces extending inwardly at an acute angle from the first end of the device to the second end of the device.
Fixation apparatus
Fixation apparatus for releasably securing a fixation structure to an airway tube of an artificial airway device is provided, the apparatus (1) being adapted to allow captive axial movement thereof relative to the airway tube (3) in a release position, and to substantially prevent axial movement thereof relative to the airway tube (3) in a secured position.
TRACHEAL CONNECTOR
A tracheal connector is connected to a respiratory gas generator and a tracheal tube. The tracheal connector includes a tracheal connector body connected to the tracheal tube, a connector tube connected to the tracheal connector body and the respiratory gas generator, and a restriction mechanism configured to narrow a respiratory gas flow path configured to allow the respiratory gas to flow therein. The tracheal connector body includes a tracheal port connected to the tracheal tube, an exhaust port facing the tracheal port and configured to discharge at least expired air of the subject, and a respiratory port connected to the connector tube. The restriction mechanism is provided on the respiratory gas flow path between the respiratory port and the tracheal port.
Medical tube safety device
The invention includes an alarm assembly configured to engage a tube that is capable of extending into a patient. The alarm assembly comprises alarm circuitry, a wound dressing configured to releasably attach to the patient that includes at least one actuator, and a sensor holder. The sensor holder is configured to be releasably coupled to the tube and includes at least one sensor. The at least one sensor is configured to transmit a signal to the alarm circuitry when the at least one actuator actuates the at least one sensor, and the alarm circuitry is configured to produce an alert in response to receiving the signal. The invention also includes a method of detecting a tube dislodging from a patient, as well as a kit comprising a tube, alarm circuitry, a wound dressing, and a sensor holder.
COUPLING AND SUPPORTING OF APPARATUS ON THE FACE AND NECK
Apparatus (58) is provided for coupling a cannula (59) to a face of a subject (24), the apparatus (58) comprising an adhesive pad (60) configured to adhere to a surface of the subject's face, and one or more cannula grips (62) rotatably coupled to the adhesive pad (60) and configured to couple the cannula (59) to the subject's face by gripping the cannula (59). Other embodiments are also described.
CATHETER GUIDE STRUCTURE
A catheter guide structure is disclosed. Provided are a first guide module provided with an oxygen supply opening, a second guide module connected to the first guide module, and having an internal space that is opened only when the advancement of the catheter into the first guide module is necessary, and a third guide module connected to the second guide module to guide the advancement of the catheter into the first guide module. Accordingly, efficiency is ensured for the process of inserting a catheter in a respiratory system of a patient to suction foreign substances such as sputum present in the respiratory system of the patient assisted by the respirator and the process of removing the catheter such that nursing treatment for the patient can be provided with speed and efficiency. Further, according to the present disclosure, cleaning and sterilization inside and outside the catheter can be performed with ease.
TRACHEOSTOMY COLLAR
A reusable quick release tracheostomy collar or band is provided. The tracheostomy collar or band comprises three quick releases so that the tracheostomy collar or band can be quickly removed or freed up such that a tracheostomy tube may be quickly removed. The tracheostomy collar or band includes two chain portions. Each chain portion carries a hook to attach to flanges on the tracheostomy tube. Each hook engages an aperture in a corresponding one of the flanges. In addition, the two chains are connected together at their opposite ends with a hook and catch. The tracheostomy collar or band is of hypoallergenic material.
